Plus One™ Woofer Cones

Harman’s patented (US patent #7,548,631) Plus One™ polypropylene cones provide more overall speaker-cone area than other cones in its class — the result is higher sensitivity, increased low-frequency output and greater musical character.

null

Balanced Dome Tweeters

Weather resistant tweeters deliver a smooth high-frequency response and increased power handling for highs and mids, which equates to more lifelike sound from vocals, cymbals, brass instruments and pianos.

null

Designed for the Elements

Their one-piece polymer basket is designed to stand the test of time, even after long exposure to the sun and salt. Rubber surrounds offer superior edge protection and are much more reliable than foam. And a grille-mounted tweeter allows the front of the woofer cone to be sealed, protecting the motor structure from sea spray.

Individually Voiced

For most brands, off-the-shelf speakers and a cursory approval of frequency response curves are good enough. That’s not the case with JBL. We don’t only listen to our speakers against the competition — we voice them against each other to ensure each line has the consistent JBL sound signature that’s known and sought out by those who care about their audio. This is just part of an extensive development process undertaken by some of the best transducer engineers in the world to provide the finest listening experience at any price point.

null

OEM-Level Reliability Testing

JBL tests every speaker design to rigid specifications, subjecting them to extreme conditions that would break lesser speakers — this ideal for equipment that will be heavily driven in the elements. We freeze them, bake them, shake them, blast them with ultraviolet light and drive them at full power for days to make sure your audio investment lasts for years.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Speakers Good, Cover Not I have a 2015 Key West BR210 and the JBL 6510 speaker covers have become so brittle that they shatter. After some research, I have not been sucessful in obtaining replacment covers. I am told you have to replace the whole speaker. Speakers sound good but material of housing is poor quality for boat speakers.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from weak cover Plastic speaker weak can't take a bump if located low in the boat.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from JBL Marine Series MS 6510 2-way Marine Speakers I purchase a 2016 Nautic Star 2102 and all four speaker covers have disintegrated, cracked, split, what ever you want to call it. I will reserve my opinion so as to at least provide the Company a chance to respond to its product defects.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Weak cover and no replacements Speakers sound good but the covers are really weak. One good bump and they crack wide open. From what I can tell you cannot just replace the cover either. You have to buy a whole new speaker.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Covers breaking Only had my Key West 239 one year. Two of the JBL speaker covers have already shattered! Same problem as everyone else. Tried calling Prospect Electronics. Have left several messages. They have not returned any calls. :-/ Can't understand how a plastic speaker cover is not available. Don't even want a warranty replacement. I'd pay for them. But they want you to buy the whole set of speakers for $80. Unacceptable!

I have installed 6 JBl 6510's on my boat. The installation was a success, but my head unit can't support the 6 speakers. I need to upgrade my head unit. What type of head unit will support my system? I do not have an amp and prefer not to install one.

Asked by: Bradk5244
Thank you for your question, unfortunately most of the head unit is design for 4 channel speaker setup. Using 6 speaker may cause your head unit to overheat and possibly break. I cannot exactly tell you what head unit is good to use. The best and safest is to use an external amplifier.

I am planning on mounting these in my drift boat but the will not be mounted in a typical enclosure fashion. they will be mounted with the rear of the speaker exposed but still sheltered from vertical elements. how will they sound in this config?

Asked by: riverguide
If you are trying to mount the speakers with the front and the back exposed at the same time, the sound quality and power handling would be drastically reduced. You will likely blow your speakers before you have a chance to enjoy them. In order to have good sound quality and power handling, you have to hear ONLY the front of the speaker. The back must be isolated in a box or wall. On the other hand, if you are looking to enclose them in a box with the rear is exposed with the front inside the enclosure, it would then sound muffled as you would not hear the tweeter.
