Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great screen and the sound is amazing I have had many JBL products and I have never been disappointed. The Google Assistant from when you take it out of the box looks impressive. A very sleek design. The screen when turned on is very good with bright colours and it's very easy to set it up. I have used it to search YouTube and listen to music via spotify. I love the ability to stop, play back and turn up the volume just me telling it to do it. It comes with a camera and microphone built in, which can be switched off with a switch at the back. The sound with every JBL product I have had is superb and it's no different , playing music on the Google assistant is amazing. This product is worth every penny a must buy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Mobile calling does not work The mobile calling doesn’t work. There seems to be a Google firmware problem. JBL says Google is working a fix but there’s no date announced for the software update. Lenovo is having the same issue too. If they don’t release a software update soon to remedy the situation then it’s false advertising of the features of the device. This is the only issue I came across but it’s really unacceptable considering the price point. JBL should have negotiated a better partnership with Google when it came to customer support and updates.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning sound for a compact unit Was so excited to get this unit and try it. From unboxing the unit i could tell this is a solid built unit and very stylish that went with our contemporary style living room perfectly. So just plugged it in ready to set up, this is where i worried a little bit of how complicated it would be. Well i didnt have to worry at all, good user interface, installed google home on my phone, connected to wifi and BINGO. Every single command me, my partner and my 10 year old child threw at it, it recognised every single one. This resulted in some family battles for googles attention LOL. Started off with some music videos, well to say i was suprised is an understatement....the sound quality of this unit is amazing with a beautiful clear non distorting bassline. This unit has become our go to place to play music around the home. Picture quality on the screen is clear, i would have like a bigger screen but hey...its fine. Even enjoyed some of the cheesy jokes google shared with me. You can say good morning to google and set up a morning routine including, news, weather etc. I feel like i have only experienced a little bit of what this machine has to offer. Overall i cant pick fault with it at all. Love this machine and would recommend it to anyone out there.... Looking forward to use it when we host parties

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hey Google, write this review. Hey Google, how can I tell people how good this product is? Well, let’s start, this is awesome. It’s the first time I’ve properly used a Google product, as I usually use products from the dark side. But this is so easy to use, the google feature is so accurate. It displays exactly what you say. If you look at Other types of software similar to google assist, it doesn’t understand you as easy as this does. It’s like having your own musical servant. I also have it tell me my morning routine when I wake up, it’s puts my coffee on for me!!!!! I use this in the kitchen, it great when your in the middle of cooking or washing up because you don’t have to use your hands at all. Set up is a doddle and the interface is so user friendly. The sound quality is insane. You can see the built in subwoofer working on the back of the unit. The mid tones are smooth and high tones are crisp. Maybe this is the starting product to convert me over the the dark side???

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lots of Potential Great sound and love that it has chromecast. i bought this after I had returned my amazon echo show due to its inability to use YouTube. I thought this would be great for my daughters to be able to watch videos through YouTube and it’s something that entertains while cooking. I was happily surprised when I found out it used Chromecast and that I could watch videos casted from my phone and such, but it is very limited. i cannot cast Netflix, which would be nice, I don’t sit in the kitchen long enough to start a movie. I have a subscription to DirecTV Now and I can cast recorded movies and tv shows and it plays just fine. If I try to cast live tv it plays but with no sound. His is the first time I have used google music and it is alright. Usually when I ask the link view to play music it is unpopular music I have never heard. When I ask to play pandora it seems to just add a station rather than play the station I already have. Overall it sounds great, the ability to use Chromecast is awesome, and being able to access YouTube is always a plus, but I don’t know if it was worth the trade from the amazon echo show, especially now that they came out with a newer model. If JBL and google can fix these few things than I think the JBL Link View is a steal!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It’s ok I’ve been using the item for a few weeks now. Mostly in the kitchen for the radio and recipes. It’s really good for recipes actually because the search is super accurate but also it reads out step by step what to do. I like the good morning feature because google tells you the weather and gives you snippets of the news from various stations. My kids have watched YouTube on it a little bit. The video calling option is great. My mom has one so we tried it. Overall I think if you had a super smart home it would be of better use. I don’t think I used it to its full potential but only because I had no actual need to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this device!! Bought this at Christmas and am loving it. I am wondering if they will update it to allow for Netflix or other Google capabilities (Group Speakers, Visual sound screen saver, and an Equalizer)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Good Product - Need update to multiroom audio I bought this a couple days ago and have been very impressed so far. Good sound quality, good display and slimmer footprint than I expected which is great for my kitchen ledge. The only downsides so far have been that it does not yet support multiroom speaker groups (BIG disappointment as JBL web site said it did, but apparently this is coming in a future update by Google) and also if you are putting it on a high shelf the unit has no way to adjust the resting display angle which means my unit was reflecting lights and was shooting duo video of the top of my head. I have propped it up with felt chair tips for now which works, but an adjustable base with multiple angles would be useful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best of the bunch! I had looked at the Google and Lenovo offerings, and knew that JBL were in the running, but just a little late to the party. The fact that JBL were in the game made me decide to hold off and I was so glad I did. The day before Black Friday, the Link View appeared on the JBL UK Website for £179.99 and I instantly bought it. I fully expected there to be a problem as it had only just been released in the USA and we are usually the poor relations, as with the LInk 20 I bought earlier in the year (which is also a superb buy). It arrived and installation was simplicity its self. It sits in my kitchen and looks and sounds terrific. Google Assistant is brilliant and recognises my Scottish accent flawlessly. The only downside is the lack of Netflix integration which is neither the fault of JBL or Google. Come on Netflix, sort this!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No Viewing of Camera This could be soo much better implemented. I was hoping I could use the JBL camera as a security camera like I do with my Nest Hub. Unfortunately the camera is useless on the JBL as you cannot access it at all on Google Home and you can't add it. Heck you cant even use it on the JBL or open it unless you're doing Google duo calls. Not sure why they added the camera really. The only thing it's got going for it is sound. My nest hub max does everything including video surveillance and was cheaper than this. Maybe they'll release an update so we can view or jbl camera on our phone... Maybe...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3 Days and I am hooked Having had the opportunity to use and review my JBL Link View over a weekend having received it a couple of days earlier. I have to say that I am highly impressed with the quality of the product and feel like I am going to miss it a great deal when I must post it back. As my wife and I spend a lot of time in the kitchen the Link View offers us both the opportunity to listen to our favorite music and radio stations with the bonus of being able to watch videos on You Tube as well as being able to access programmes of BBC I player for example. My wife has already found and been able to access and follow cookery programmes which she loves. Setting up the Link View was very easy having installed the Google Home app and we were listening to and watching music videos within minutes. Looking forward to finding out more about what the product has to offer and posting more reviews about its features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far.....great....hoping for updates Just brought this home yesterday.....love it.....but I want to make a few comments. COMMANDS: maybe I haven't found it yet, but is there a web page or 'place' that lists all the commands....for example....we discovered you can say "turn off screen" and it will go black but continue playing your music......one review I read noted you can "turn off display" but screen displays the clock.....but we accidentally discovered using the word "screen" instead of display....works! NETFLIX: won't cast.....but many of my other TV streaming apps do, for example CBS All Access, CRAVE TV, and others. BTW: I am in Canada but this product isn't even listed yet on the Canadian website for JBL so I am posting my review on the US site. another note: be nice if it worked with more than just one Google Calendar...... a drag my husband and I have to make sure to use only one calendar on our tablets so the items show on the Link View. BE NICE if you added 'conversation' functionality....... I understand that doesn't work on this unit. QUESTION: will any updates you issue automatically download? or will notifications appear in the HOME app?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Sound I won this at a raffle at work, and I use it daily to play music while I'm working from home. I can play Spotify from my phone and it plays on the speaker, but I can't control Pandora from my phone for some reason. I wish they would have added a feature where you could upload your own pictures that would shuffle through instead of the screen savers they show. That would be amazing actually. Overall, it's a good speaker. Sounds good, gets pretty loud. The Google Assistant is spot on most of the time, and pretty quick. I probably would not pay retail value for this though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Speaker with the added Google Screen Having had a Google Home was looking to get a Smart Screen. I had heard that the sound on this was better than the other options, so jumped when it was reduced before Xmas. Haven't disappointed and it a marked improvement over previous sound systems I've owned. And has the added bonus of making a great photo frame for all the pictures take and never printed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Still needs some work The screen and sound is great, the unit still has some short comings -You cannot link it with other JBL link speakers for whole house audio -Spotify, if you have big playlist it will only play the first 100 songs on the playlist on shuffle -The main screen and the sleep screen options are limited to a couple of clocks or photos. Would like to be able have a clock, weather forecast, maybe even the news All in all its OK but would have expected more.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Impressively Useless You have to admire JBL for committing so thoroughly to polishing this object up. It's a sleek, solid unit, with an impressive array of components. From the first tones it makes as you turn it on, it's clear you have bought something that cost as much to make and design as it's hefty price tag implies. Which makes it's uslessness almost tragic really, but once you fire the thing up and it completes a length firmware update it becomes clear that almost none of it's advertises features function to their full ability. It really is best to give examples: Asking The JBL Link view to play music from your Google Play Library instead sees it bringing up the same songs on Youtube, presumably because google gets ad revenue from youtube and not from google play. There are no options at all to play music from a home media server. Nor does the unit have any cable-out options, so it is not possible to use it with any external speakers (except wirelessly connected Google Brand Speakers I presume). Asking the JBL Link View to make a phone call results in the unit reading the number back to you and then saying "This number does not exist". It is not possible to receive email on the unit, as far as I can tell, nor was I able to get any major social networks working. Creating events on a Google Calendar offers no option to customise the tags for the event, add a location from google maps or create multiple events at the same time. I determined that with the above issues, it was as good as useless in the living room, so I instead moved it to the bedroom where I figured it would at least make a functioning alarm clock. It does, though I was unable to customise the alarm tone or add any personal music. I set the alarm and went to bed, only to find that even when you ask it to go to sleep, the screen stays on, darkly, to no function. I can see all of these being surmountable problems if google allowed any user customisation, but even with the help of third-party apps, creating routines and custom commands for Google Home Turned out to be a significant slog, and did not produce any workable results. It failed pretty much every task I asked of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from converted skeptic!! This new addition to our home has completely changed my mind on voice controlled technology! first decision was where to have this unit, it was originally in the living room, but it actually works better for us in the kitchen and here's why. Out home is a reverse layout, meaning the kitchen is the first room you enter after the hallway. Once home I simply say "Hay Google I'm home" and I have a series of commands that are then performed, if I walk through into the living area, I simply ask google "Hay google, cast to living room TV" and it jumps room I have managed to connect a series of smaller google home mini speakers in the upstairs rooms, and also smart sockets, so I ask google to turn on or off lights or chargers, for example I go to bed knowing my phone charger will turn off at 3am meaning I'm not wasting electric charging a fully charged phone (this is also better for the battery) this is directly link to another command, I say "ok google Goodnight" and this turns out lights downstairs and puts the charging socket on until 3am I wake up say "hay google good morning" and my route to work is displayed with any delays, then a series of news is read out (Sky news isn't working yet, but this tech is still young) Another feature that I like is I can ask for directions to a place while I'm putting my coat and shoes on, the directions are then sent to my android phone and navigation starts, so as soon as I enter my car the Bluetooth connects and the satnav updates with the instructions (love this feature) The sound quality is above what you would expect from such a small unit, loads of deep bass!! As I've said I'm now a total convert on this tech and will be adding a video doorbell, other speakers and control devices for items around the home, I've even converted my 70+ year old parents, they have joined the speak tech revolution (even if 90% of the time it's just to get radio) When following a recipe online, one feature you're supposed to be able to do doesn't work, you're supposed to say "next step" but it doesn't you have to manually tap the screen a little annoying if your covered in flour, but it cleans down easy enough, I'm sure this will improve as I've already said this is in its infancy stage, I'm sure loads more features will come as this tech evolves, for example, it can see my robot Vac on the same wi-fi network, but it can't set him off cleaning (or at least I haven't been able to get it do so) The number of languages is limited, my partner is Brazilian and it doesn't understand any Portuguese, so when asking for a "feijoada recipe" you have to ask for "Brazilian Stew recipes" and select the right one, again I'm sure language packs will be added, this is google they have unlimited access to language around the world

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than the Google Home Hub Bought the google Home Hub. Turned the lights off and the display goes completely dark. I planned on using this in the bedroom, but can't because you can't see the clock. Ran across the JBL Link View looking for another option. Best Buy only had one and none on display. I took a chance and brought it home. I plugged it in and turned the lights off. Perfect the clock stays visible in the dark. I then fired up Google Music and my wife says wow that's a huge improvement in sound compared to the other one. Both agreed it's a keeper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected Great sound, great features with new things being added. Worth the money as the big sound fills the room far better than other models. Remember those Bose radio/CD players with an ipod adapter on top? They are so dead compared with this!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good sound but chunky design I'm a fan of the JBL audio quality and this did not disappoint! It's a little too chunky though and the design doesn't blend in well with my kitchen so I decided to move things around. I'm now using this speaker in the bedroom since I listen to music more often there while my Lenovo smart display sits in the kitchen. The screen for the lenovo is larger anyway so I prefer that for the kitchen. I must say the screen for this JBL was a little underwhelming. Not a huge issue but it's better for the bedroom than kitchen.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome sound and features! I’ll start by saying I’m generally an Alexa guy through and through, I thought I’d never get convinced by something else, let along Google. But this thing is just brilliant. It understands me better than Alexa and the sound is unbelievable for a thing of its size. Don’t get me wrong, it’s big. But the screen is brilliant and my wife is already using the features for cooking etc as Google will give you recipe read outs step by step. I’ve now connected it to all of my smart appliances and it really does work faultlessly. I can be across the room and call out “ok google” and she hears me and follows my every command. The only minor criticism is the size really. It could be a bit more compact and maybe a few other colour choices (they’re sure to come anyway). Overall though I love it. The family calendar is full and when we grab coffee together in a morning we all know what our days look like. Considering getting another for the front room too, it’s that good.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No Chromecast speaker group capability No Chromecast speaker group capability... What gives? I wouldn't call this worthless because I'm sure it sounds good, but I can't afford separate speakers to listen to along with the rest of my house and this...I want my cake and to eat it, too!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great JBL Quality! I have used the JBL link for about 1 month. Works as described. I also own a Google Hub Max. JBL sound is much better. Google has a few more features as expected that work with Google Home. Examples of differences are security camera feature and screen time out setting. JBL has a positive slide feature over the camera lens to ensure it is turned off. Google does not. You can't beat the sound quality with JBL. Nicely done and nice price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Black Friday discount = bargain It's a Google home hub with: 1. A larger screen 2. A video camera for video calls 3. Nice sound quality and the volume fills my kitchen well. There is no silly power converter to hide away, mains goes straight into the LinkView.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smooth sailing! I've been testing the JBL LINK VIEW for the past two weeks and I'm quite pleased with the product. From the unboxing to this morning it was very easy to setup and use. It was very well packed, easy to unbox and connect, configuring was very easy and it surprised me positively from the first moment. I mostly used the product for my morning and evening routines and listening/watching the news and music. The pre-set routines were easy to activate and customise both by voice and the Google Home app. Connecting it to my Spotify account was also easy. I know JBL is renowned for the sound quality of their product but still, I wasn't expecting such quality from this type of device. The screen mas it easy and adds value to being able to play music on YouTube and to watch the news. Even when there is no video to be played the JBL LINK VIEW gives you extra information regarding what is being played. I love the fact that I can just say "Hey Google tell me the news" and it starts playing them from my favourite sources while I'm preparing dinner. It has helped me multitask but still enjoy what I like. These days, when I sit for diner, I can just choose an entertainment program as I'm all caught up with the latest news as I like to be. Design wise it is very sleek and goes beautifully both in my kitchen and my dining table. I love the round ends where the speakers sit, I would just like it to be a bit smaller. Although that would probably mean there would need to be a compromise with the screen size or the sound quality, with that in mind I would say it is the right size. One thing I'm looking forward to test that I haven't yet is the video calling. That is on my to do list for this week. I'll update my review when I've done so. I previously own a Google Mini and now when I say "Hey Google", although they are not both in the same room, they both react but the JBL LINK VIEW takes over every time. Sometimes, because of the location I would prefer the Google Mini to start playing the music but I haven't figured out how to do that. I'll keep trying. I've been talking about it with some of my friends and they are quite curious about it. So much so that one of them has already come over to test it and after the initial voice configuration he loved it. All in all, I'm very happy with the JBL LINK VIEW and I highly recommend it.

Product Q&A

I'm confused - is the sound output in stereo? I was assuming yes with two speaker drivers but I don't see anything in the specs saying the sound output is in stereo.

Asked by: PLakesMan
Yes. The sound output of the Link view is Stereo. 2 drivers for left and right channels respectively.

We do not recommend simply placing the JBL Link View on top of a table where it's safe and in an open space so you can speak to it clearly. If you have more questions, please contact us here. https://bit.ly/2zwFkYM

can I use it as an alarm clock (radio!?) with different alarms for each day? Can I use my iPhone to set different alarms?

Asked by: Miwanger
Yes, you can use the JBL Link View as an alarm clock with different alarms for each day. You just need to set it up with the Google home app and have the Google Assistant set this alarm for you on different days. Unfortunately, the JBL Link View is a stand alone Google device and you only use your phone to set it up through the Google Home app. You cannot use your iPhone to set up different alarms for it.

Which languages does it support? Does it understand Brazilian Portuguese?

Asked by: helderlima
As of the writing of this response, the Link View (and our other Link products) supports only 8 languages for now, and these are English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese. For it to understand a specific language such as Brazilian Portuguese, it must be setup in the Google Home app as the language of choice upon setup.
