Great speaker
I purchased the Flip 4 less than a month ago. I purchased it mainly for a replacement speaker for when I' cycling because I don't like to wear headphones. I also use it when I'm working out in the garage, on runs and hikes. The clarity on it is awesome. For it to be a small speaker the bass on it is pretty good. The speaker will last for some time if you don't have it too loud. While cycling I had it to close to it's max because I was on loud and busy streets. The battery lasted for about 3 hours. I was pretty disappointed, but considering how loud and clear it was through the traffic, bike lanes along the river and in wide open areas I'm glad I purchased it.

Great Speaker!!
This speaker for its size puts out amazing sound!! I have it with me when I am on the bike, working in the yard, or just around the campsite. I love the bass this speaker produces and the clarity of calls. I can stand 10 feet away and the person on the line can't even tell! I have left in outside for a few days sitting on end and when I went to retrieve it, shook the water out of the sub, and it played without issue! The speaker has amazingly loud sound so it can be put on one side of the yard, while working anywhere else and you be able hear it just fine.

Better Than Previously Owned Speakers
This is better than other speakers I have owned, is louder, works better, and is better looking :) I love the fact that it goes under water, that really comes in clutch since I'm always at a lake or pool in the summer. It connects quickly using Bluetooth and the Connect+ features. It's small and light which makes it easier for travel. It's very loud so I can hear it through my whole house but it doesn't make the music sound gritty, still very clear at loud volumes. And honestly I just love the colors it comes in. Would definitely recommend to a friend! (Actually I already have)

Absolutely unbelievable
I never write reviews but I bought a pair of JBL flip 4 speakers and I consider myself a full audiofie with a full separate system with floor standing speakers in my living room. I bought these speakers because I travel a lot with work and I wanted the full stereo experience where ever I was. With these speakers I found it, I am really impressed. They have amazing sound in stereo mode. The only thing I would say is the app could be better as it is a little slow to connect and dosen't always stay in stereo mode which is a little annoying. Other than that, awesome and I would fully recommend to any music lover. BUY 2 FOR THE BEST EXPERIENCE.

Best Speaker Ever!
I got this as a gift. Have had it for two years and still works amazing. Wait till you hear this. Went paddeboarding and had it on the front of my paddelboard, it then fell off and sunk to the bottom 12ft deep. Didn't want to jump in case the water was freezing, so I let it go. The next day which was 24 hours later, I go to the beach and the water was out. I walk out to where I dropped it and found it covered in seaweed by a rock. I pick it up and take it home and wash it off, turn the power button on and it worked! Still connects to Bluetooth and plays music and I think it sounds better then it did before. Lasted 24 hours in salt water. Best Speaker EVER!!

Sound, bass, form factor!
I have bought a speaker of another manufacturer, a good one, but after listening to my friends FLIP 4, I exchanged it without hesitation on FLIP 4! Deep, soft sound with excellent hard bass)))
QUESTION TO THE MANUFACTURER
Please explain the correct work of the FLIP 4 speaker when tested with pouring water on the membranes of passive speakers (in vertical position).
In some reviews water stands still on the top of the membranes of passive speakers, but in some it flows inside of the speaker and flows out from the lower membrane.
If the water flows inside of the speaker and flows out from the lower membrane - this means that the column is defective and the membranes are not sealed, so I can contact the seller to exchange the speaker ???

Loud!
I have no complaints. This is loud for its size!! I bought this while at the beach and i took to down to the ocean everyday. Was able to play music and block out all other sounds around me. I could still hear it when leaving it at my chair and going into the water. I’ve also taken it to listen to on vacation in the mountains. It’s a great speaker to listen to while swimming or hot tubbing and i love that i can get it wet and i don’t have to worry. I couldn’t say enough great things about it!!! Battery life is amazing i have had it since summer and charged it twice...

Great speaker for the price!
I had a JBL Flip 2 that I loved... it was out of warranty and would not charge anymore.
I contacted Harman-Kardan (JBL) and informed them of the issue.
After confirming any/all troubleshoot techniques they deemed the unit defective and sent me a 40% code to purchase another speaker. I chose the Flip 4 and was not disappointed!
This little speaker packs a punch! Not to mention, you can link up to 100 of these guys wirelessly and bounce the sound all over your house. An added bonus is that this speaker is suppose to be waterproof as well... haven't tested that feature yet.
I would strongly recommend this product to anyone looking for a solid bluetooth speaker with great quality and power of sound.

It the best portable speaker yet!!!!!
This speaker sounds better than the Charge 3 and it’s 2x the Flip 4s size. The best 3 things on it is the external passive radiator, the batter it can last for days for confort music like jazz or something, and the speakers. There is one thing I don’t like about it but it’s to help the high noises I think. IDK what is like the topping on the speaker when you take off the fabric. The speakers are great looking but coolect dust and other things, if you scratch the leakers it’s self it’s not coming out. If you guys read this the Charge 3 speakers bust really easy I mean by listing to noises my speaker are getting to the point where it has to be turned up all the time. So if you guys read this tell me why or how it’s doing this..??

Amazing Speaker and Service!
I bought the Flip 2, 2 years ago and I experienced a problem with charging. I called JBL and they took it in for me and gave me a free replacement upgrade (double upgrade!) to the Flip 4. JBL's service was excellent - they gave clear information and the process was speedy. They even let me choose the colour of the Flip 4 that I wanted. Thank you so much for your great customer support! The Flip 4 itself is absolutely brilliant quality - it's sturdy, I can take it anywhere easily and the sound quality is up there with the best on the market.

Much needed upgrade
I had been saving up for a BT speaker and the JBL Flip 4 is amazing! It sounds great and it doesn't take much for it to get loud. It's easy to connect to your devices. I have it connected to my iPhone 8 and Echo Dot and the sound quality is just amazing. It blows my previous BT speakers out of the water. It's supposed to be water proof but I haven't had a chance to see for myself yet. It doesn't tell you the battery life on the iPhone like some BT devices but that's not a big deal. The Flip 4 is definitely worth the money!

Perfect for the Hot Tub!
I love to relax in my hot tub and listen to my favorite tunes but had a hard time hearing my other portable speakers because they weren't waterproof and couldn't sit up on the tub. This speaker is PERFECT because 1) it is much cheaper than installing the custom sound system that is available to purchase with the hot tub ($700-1000 feature!) and I can prop it up on the side of the hot tub without worrying about it getting wet! This allows me to hear my tunes without having to play the music so loud that the entire neighborhood can hear it as well! I bought one just to test to make sure that it was as good as I hoped it would be and now that I know, I'm going to get at least another 1 or even 2 speakers to place around my deck for larger gatherings!

Got this speaker as a free gift with my galaxy s8+ and to be honest i was not expecting much for a free speaker, and looking at the price i thought it would be an over priced piece of junk. Well i was wrong for the size this little guy packs a punch and gives a nice amount of bass while still sounding clear at full volume, would definitely recommend taking the chance of getting it free and would purchase if i was looking for a solid good quality speaker well worth the money.

Love This Speaker
I have owned the JBL Flip 4 for a little over a month now. It has fantastic stereo sound. The bass response is good and noise-cancelling is great for calls. The speaker is smaller than you expect out of the box, but boy does it pack a whallop! The battery life has been 10 hours with high volume and heavy usage. The casing is quite durable and blends in with most decor. I couldn't be more pleased with this speaker. For $99 it seems like a real bargain.

Wow, surprisingly impressive.
I literally bought a Flip 4 at Walmart b/c I needed a bluetooth speaker for across country drive, but WOW did it perform beyond my wildest expectations. Most importantly, sound quality is amazing, especially at mid-levels. Base performance is great for a speaker this size. As a bonus, battery life really is 8+ hour of non-stop use. This must be the best speaker on the market at the $99 price point.

I bought the white one and love it. Sounds great, connects to phone as soon as i turn it on and the Siri feature is awesome! I can tell it to play rock music and it pulls all the rock music from my phone! Love it! The only thing i would say isn't 5 stars is the phone feature. Talking on the phone thru the speaker isn't that great but i really don't intent on using it for that purpose so I don't care! I love everything else about it!

The Waterproofing is second to none!
I did not buy this speaker. However a couple weeks ago we were cleaning up the banks of a local river here in Montana. I found a JBL Flip 4 in some cattail weeds along the bank in water/mud. My friends said I should just throw it away, they said"there is no way that thing will ever work after sitting in river water for the whole winter". I kept it, hung it up for a week to dry it out, plugged it in to charge and the battery light lit up. I couldn't believe it. After it had charged for a bit I connected the speaker to my phone via bluetooth and it WORKED!!! Thanks for making a great speaker that is as tough as they come.

While not meant for audiohpiles, this speaker is probably the closest think JBL could make to portable, besides the Clip series. The sound isn't as rich as the Charge 3 or Pulse 3, but you definitely get your money's worth. Appearance is outstanding, I ordered the Trio Special Edition. It has that classic JBL look but can be a little bulky to tand it up vertical.
In addition, the ordering process was quick as well. Definitely better to buy it off the website than off Amazon or eBay.I recommend to people who want a loud and quick portable solution, but this is not meant fr hardcore music lovers.

Great speaker
The speaker is great. Everything’s is as said. Sometimes my battery lasts a little longer than 12 hours. I liked so much that I bought a second one to use the connect + feature. However if I could change one thing, it would be the power on/ off sounds. It just kind of sounds weird to me. I think some sort of subtle bass rumble would be better Maybe JBL could change this in the next firmware update.

Even better when connected together
If you love this speaker as a standalone unit, you have to take any opportunity you can to get at least one more and connect them using the App!
As a pair they sound incredible. Great in Party Mode, but even more amazing in Stereo, where one is left channel and the other right channel. Couldn't recommend them enough, especially when paired up!!
PS - same goes for the Flip 3. When paired they also sound AMAZING :)

The features blew my mind
The features are absoulutely amazing with the ipx7 water resistance you dont have to worry about dropping the flip 4 in water and the 12hr battery life makes things better that you dont have to charge it every few hours there are lots more features. I would love to be a product reviewer and tester for JBL use are my favourite sound brand and overall just my favourite brand.

Neighbours not on speaking terms
Bought after using a friend's, charged ready for a bbq and it was so clear and powerful it could be heard ten gardens away. I know this because the neighbour from ten doors away came to complain. It also rained but that didn't stop either us or it. Brought it inside three stormy days later and it worked just fine. Highly recommended.

Fatal Flaw!
I have two Flip 3's and was very excited to check out the Flip 4's. They definitely sound better to my ears, a bit brighter and warmer at the same time. However, as one online reviewer pointed out, the Flip 4 constantly FORGETS it is in Stereo mode. This is amazingly annoying when connecting via your phone as you have to keep going into the app, waiting for the speakers to be recognized, then setting them to Stereo. But on top of this, it is then IMPOSSIBLE to pair them in Stereo to a Mac, or other BT source. What??? While I use them occasionally from my iPhone when I travel, I mostly use my mac to stream my tunes and this is completely unacceptable. So unless JBL fixes this in a firmware update, I'd say Connect+ = Connect MINUS.

Always Impressed By JBL
I bought this thing when it came out and I had already owned the Flip 3 so I knew this would be good. I got it and it sounded great and it was more clearer sounding than the Flip 3 but the Flip 3 had more bass but this thing still knocked for its size. Way bigger and better improvement in design and features than the Flip 3. Great job JBL you did it once again.

Flip 4 + GREAT Customer Service!
I recently had a problem with my Flip 3 and contacted customer. These folks absolutely back their product. They took note of the issues and immediately replaced my Flip 3....with a FLIP 4!! Amazing sound!!

Best of the best.
I've had the speaker for half a year now.
I use it for about 30 minutes every single day, and I do not go easy on it. High volume, always getting soaked with water, and it does not care. Its been dropped in pools, on the concrete, and beaten up in various ways and doesn't even have a scratch on it.
To touch on the topic of battery life, must I mention again, I use it 20-30 minutes every single day. And it will last about a month or LONGER on one charge. Between 700-900 minutes of play time on a charge. That is very impressive in my opinion.
If you are debating buying this speaker, pull the trigger.

Awesome for Evreything
I got this for Christmas and I love using it for Netflix to enhance the movie experience in my phone. The only thing I noticed it that you can’t hit play on YouTube you can only use pause but it works great for Netflix. And I have used it for hours and hours and it’s still fully charged!!

Can I disable the "sleep/battery save mode"? I use my Flip4 with my desktop mostly and it's connected to the usb. It's a pain to always have to turn it back on.
That's sad. Such a basic requirement, disable the sleep function. At the very least, the unit should always stay awake when plugged in with the USB cable, doesn't though. My wife was driving me crazy because the $100+ speaker I bought her was never on when she wanted to listen to something. I finally set up a timer that repeats a half second of white noise every 9 minutes. The unit stays awake now. I shouldn't have had to do that.

Is the sound quality and bass quality as good as the charge 3? Volume too?
I would say that the overall sound quality is better than the Charge 3 at moderate volume. The Flip 4 doesn't have as much thump, but the bass is there. The Charge 3 is louder and maintains the increased bass to full volume. The Flip 4 sounds amazing at normal listening levels and has a much brighter sound, but does lose the bass at full volume. The upper range (highs) on the Charge 3 is a bit muted, but not with the Flip 4. I think the Flip 4 complements the Charge 3 very well, and can replace it if you don't require full volume.

The JBL CONNECT + is not backwards compatible to the JBL CONNECT and vice-versa. JBL CONNECT + allows you to connect up to 100 speakers with this feature such as the FLIP 4 and the PULSE 3.

I have two Flip 4's connected to my computer monitor using a splitter and it usually works fine. However, when every the sound in the show or movie gets low the speaker completely cuts out and no audio can be heard. Solution?

I would like to use two JBK Flip 4’s as stereo speakers connected via cable to an audio interface in turn connected via usb to my Macbook. Would it work?
Ah, sorry, forgot to note that you want USB connection. The connection from your computer to the interface does not involve the Flips, but if the interface features left and right RCA phono output sockets, it is much easier to connect to the Flips. You simply buy two adapter cables, with male RCA phono plug at one end, and stereo 3.5 mm jacks at the other end, making sure that both poles for the left and right channel are connected inside the cable.

The jbl flip 4 is similar sound to the jbl flip 3, except it hits 15hz lower and hits 5hz lower than the charge 2+, basically it hits lower bass frequencies.

Why do i face lag in audio when i play videos on Netflix and Youtube in JBL Flip4 Stereo mode ? I have tried this on IPAD and Windows 10 PC as well. I got this speaker 1 day ago.
Hi! What you are experiencing is a limitation of bluetooth. When you start the video and audio at the same time, the audio will lag behind by the length of time it takes the Bluetooth hardware to receive, process and output it which is known as Latency. You won’t notice this lag if you’re listening to music, but if you’re watching a video the sound may be marginally out of sync. Latency varies depending on the hardware and software setups you have. Bluetooth 4.0 is low latency, so will perform better than older versions. However, as technology improves, latency improves. Unfortunately, this product is not necessarily designed to be used as a speaker for video. If your product has the option of a wired connection, we recommend using this as an alternative.

okay stupid question. how do i charge the flip 4? it looks like it would plug into my computer's (linux) usb port. is this right? i also have a new ipad. it looks like the flip cord would plug into the ipad piece that goes in the outlet. would this work?
Yes. You can either plug it into a laptop/PC or use any wall adapter that is at least 5V @1A or higher.

Yes, this should be good enough for your car. Feel free to check other speakers as well(JBL Trip, Charge 3, Xtreme) as they should fit the category.

The JBL Flip 4 is A2DP V1.3, AVRCP V1.6, HFP V1.6, HSP V1.2 while AAC and Apt-X is not supported.

I have two JBL Flip 4 speakers. I'm trying to connect both for stereo sound to my computer Bluetooth but when I have both speakers playing the sound is out of sync with the youtube video or a movie I'm watching on Netflix. How do I get the sound in sync?
What you are experiencing is a limitation of bluetooth. When you start the video and audio at the same time, the audio will lag behind by the length of time it takes the Bluetooth hardware to receive, process and output it which is known as Latency. You won’t notice this lag if you’re listening to music, but if you’re watching a video the sound may be marginally out of sync. Latency varies depending on the hardware and software setups you have. Bluetooth 4.0 is low latency, so will perform better than older versions. However, as technology improves, latency improves. Unfortunately, this product is not necessarily designed to be used as a speaker for video. If your product has the option of a wired connection, we recommend using this as an alternative. How can I make sure the I am getting the maximum volume. Seems my Flip is not as loud as expected.
Set your source device volume to maximum and press the volume + button until you hear the speaker make a thump sound indicating the speaker is at maximum volume level.

I'm looking to purchase a waterproof speaker for the beach. What are the differences between this vs the charge 3? Is the charge 3 louder? I have a charge 2+ and it sounds better than my buddies charge 3 (his highs don't sound as good for some reason).
The FLIP 4 is rated at 2 x 8W while the CHARGE 3 is rated at 2 x 10W with bigger passive radiators on both sides making the latter more powerful when it comes to audio and deep bass. Both the CHARGE 3 and FLIP 4 are IPX7 waterproof certified.

I have a problem with flip 4it is not reacting to the volume button. If I press "+" it is going down the volumen sometime it does not reacting to the "-" button. It feels the button is ok mechanically. Is there any possibility to refress the software?
Hi! You could try performing a reset on the JBL Flip 4 by while turned ON, press and hold the "Volume +" and "Play" buttons at the same time for more than 3 seconds.
