Plus One™ Woofer Cones

Harman’s patented (US patent #7,548,631) Plus One™ polypropylene cones provide more overall speaker-cone area than other cones in its class — the result is higher sensitivity, increased low-frequency output and greater musical character.

null

Balanced Dome Tweeters

Weather resistant tweeters deliver a smooth high-frequency response and increased power handling for highs and mids, which equates to more lifelike sound from vocals, cymbals, brass instruments and pianos.

null

Designed for the Elements

Their one-piece polymer basket is designed to stand the test of time, even after long exposure to the sun and salt. Rubber surrounds offer superior edge protection and are much more reliable than foam. And a grille-mounted tweeter allows the front of the woofer cone to be sealed, protecting the motor structure from sea spray.

Individually Voiced

For most brands, off-the-shelf speakers and a cursory approval of frequency response curves are good enough. That’s not the case with JBL. We don’t only listen to our speakers against the competition — we voice them against each other to ensure each line has the consistent JBL sound signature that’s known and sought out by those who care about their audio. This is just part of an extensive development process undertaken by some of the best transducer engineers in the world to provide the finest listening experience at any price point.

OEM-Level Reliability Testing

JBL tests every speaker design to rigid specifications, subjecting them to extreme conditions that would break lesser speakers — this ideal for equipment that will be heavily driven in the elements. We freeze them, bake them, shake them, blast them with ultraviolet light and drive them at full power for days to make sure your audio investment lasts for years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clean looks sound great Bought a couple of weeks ago put them in a small wedge shape box a bought online for 6x9 speakers, the box does have insulation in it, the speakers sound amazing they have plenty of bass and treble, running them flat with a little gain for subs, very happy with speakers, the only negative would be the mounting screws seem cheap, Allen wrench is required bottom of screw head is rounded so wrench doesn't fit in well recommend jbl use torque or Phillips head screws

I will be putting your MS 9520 under the roof of my UTV my question is can I install these speakers into a sealed enclosure if so what is the air volume specs for these speakers. Most likely the boxes will be under .5 cubic foot.

Asked by: Rich56
Our marine speakers are designed for free-air/infinite-baffle applications, meaning that they don't require an enclosure. If you'll be putting these into an enclosure, all you has to do is put them in a small sealed box, and he will be good to go. Small, meaning anywhere from just big enough to hold the speaker up to .3 cubit foot, will do a great job for the speaker.

Are the magnets shielded? What is the minimum recommended mounting distance from a marine compass?

Asked by: wasabi
Unfortunately, our marine speakers are not shielded. Mounting distance of the speaker would really depend on how the compass would react to the speaker. Try holding the speaker near the compass and walk away from the compass until it stops reacting to the speaker. The distance from where you stopped would be a good location to mount the speaker.
