MS 6520 is rated 1.7 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent sound I just made a full replacement to my sound system in pontoon boat. Placed four JBL 6520's under the seats with a JBL amp. The sound quality is excellent. The amount of bass is good for the size of the speaker. I was cautious when ordering these because of the negative reviews regarding the durability of the grill, however the plastic on the grill seems to be thick and durable overall. Time will tell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely a big step up Excellent sound quality. Significantly better than the Sony speakers that the MS6520 replaced.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Frustrated with grill replacements I was on here looking for speaker grill replacements and noticed a lot of similar reviews. I have a 2 year old Sea Hunt, and need grill replacements for all 6 of my speakers. There are 4 that are broken/cracked, and the other 2 are brittle and about to break. Is there a recommended replacement that won't do the same thing?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from fragile bought boat in 2016, so far three of speaker grills broke, since then all six have been replaced, but two of them do not work, trying to get those replaced. i was told by shop that it is a flaw. newer ones seem to have a better grill, time will tell, hopefully they willl replace the two new ones that are not producing any sound. its been frustrating, and not a cheap boat.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Grill is falling apart and can't use speaker I bought a 2016 Sea Hunt boat brand new, and only after 2 seasons almost all 6 speaker grills are falling apart to the point I can no longer use the stereo. I sent an email to JBL and they said I would be contacted, which never happened. I strongly advise anybody considering buying this jbl speaker to reconsider because it looks like they have a flaw with this "marine" speaker. I hope Jbl will step up and fix their customer issues with this speaker.

Have the MS 6520 speaker grills been improved. I have heard poor reviews of the grills cracking from the sun.

Are any of your JBL marine speakers magnetically shielded from interfering with a nearby boat compass?

Asked by: Boatperson
Unfortunately, our marine speakers are not shielded. Mounting distance of the speaker would really depend on how the compass would react to the speaker. Try holding the speaker near the compass and walk away from the compass until it stops reacting to the speaker. The distance from where you stopped would be a good location to mount the speaker.

Can these be installed without the grills?

Asked by: hdrider
Hi! Apparently not, as the grilles on these speakers are integrated in to the speaker frame.

Will these fit on Harley Davidsons?

Asked by: Harleydude
This JBL MS6520 is designed to take on the sun, sea spray and scrub downs, it will suit outdoor climate changes just fine. Whether or not the speaker will adequately fit your Harley-Davidson we are unsure.

Will these fit the same hole and bolt circle as the MS6200? I am replacing the MS6200's I have due to age and want to make sure they will fit. Curios because the MS6200 say 6.5" and these say 6".

Asked by: BobM
Unfortunately, the mounting screw holes on the MS6520 is totally different from the mounting holes of the MS6200 as the MS6520 is slightly smaller than the MS6200. The screw holes were adjusted to accommodate the difference in size.
