Product Q&A

I really like JBL products have numerous (Boombox is awesome). Bought this amp about 2-3 months ago and it overheats everytime when at lake..only pushing two 6.5" Wetsound tower speakers. Why is it doing this repeatedly?

Asked by: PaulH201912345
Hi Paul, thanks for reaching out. You could check for your wires and look for shorts and damage on it's insulation. Speaker impedance also plays a factor, if the speakers that you have is 2 ohms or lower, it would be normal to have the amp heat up on high volumes. I would like to power a set of 4 JBL stadium 6.5” speakers(listed at 3 ohms). Will this be a problem since I’m not running 4 ohms? From another question and answer listed here I’m wondering if this amp is only capable of handling 4 ohms.

Asked by: Sbakes
Our JBL Marine MA704 can handle down to 2 ohms. But if you're going to wire it on bridge mode, it can only go down to 4 ohms.

I would like to use this amp on a sailboat. Because there will be times when I wish to coserve the battery is there a way to remotely switch the amp on and off? Also is there a way I can remotely increase and decrease the amp output?

Asked by: JD Sail
Regrettably, it doesn't have remote control and doesn't support 3rd party ones since it doesn't have built-in infrared or Bluetooth receivers.

Is the MA704 a Class D or Class A/B amp?

Asked by: Wyzer
Our JBL Marine MA704 is Class H amplifier, similar as Class AB amplifier, the difference is multi-group power supply (+VCC1/-VCC1, +VCC2/-VCC2, +VCC3/-VCC3) switching follow with input signal in order to improve efficiency.
