Great Dolby Atmos Speakers
I purchased 4 of these to be mounted in my ceiling for my Dolby Atmos setup. Now I have a 7.2.4 setup. JBL 4430's for mains, JBL L112's for center channels, Jamo's for surround and the JBL 81W's for Atmos. The theater sounds awesome.

Hello, I'm still thinking in which speaker series to have. I would like to know more about this model. I'm planning to install 5.1 home theater, then, I will upgrade to 7.2. May be up to 9.2 home theater. Can I use this speaker as a surround speaker?
While there is no one perfect set-up for it all boils down to your preference, a standard surround sound home theater system involves a 5.1 system or more. If you're looking for a home theater system to better match your existing speaker, here are the general rules to picking out speakers/receivers for your system.
1. Make sure the impedance rating of the receiver matches the speakers. Typical impedance of 8 ohms is almost never a problem.
2. Make sure that the speakers you choose can handle the power rating of your receiver. If you have a 100 watt per channel receiver, be sure the speakers you choose have a wattage rating of 100 watts or higher.
3. Stick with the same series of speaker, so that all of the speakers have the same sonic tonal quality, giving you a seamless transition when sound travels from one speaker to another. For example, if you select the ES80 floor standing speakers for your front speakers, be sure to select the ES series center and bookshelf speakers for your rears.

Is the arena 81w available at 4 ohms? I would like to upgrade the speakers s in a Roland Street Cube EX. Have you heard of 81w working in the Roland portable PA?
Unfortunately, the JBL Arena 8IW only comes in 8 ohms. Regarding its compatibility with the Roland Cube Street EX, we would like to work with you directly to help you with your issue. Hi, can i mount a 5.1 or 7.1 Home Theater with Arena 8IW or Arena 6IW and mount on ceiling position at a plaster ceiling?
Yes you can, you would just need to make sure that the plaster is strong enough to withstand the vibrations coming from the speaker.
