Bluetooth® 3.0 freedom – with a touch of revolution.
You can’t press pause on a pro-audio revolution – certainly not when JBL engineers are at the helm. Introducing the new JBL S400BT. As the latest addition to the JBL Synchros line of premium headphones, the award-winning S400BT adds the freedom of Bluetooth 3.0 wireless to the performance of a Synchros headphone. Using advanced aptX digital encoding technology that streams high-resolution audio on par with any wired Synchro headphone, the S400BT is fine-tuned on the inside to maximize enjoyment on the outside. Take the headphone’s hassle-free single touch sensor for instance: all you need to do is swipe your finger anywhere along the S400BT’s left outer earcup, and you can seamlessly adjust your headphone’s volume, track-changes, and call settings, since the entire earcup functions as a single, touch-sensitive control system. The right outer earcup boosts user flexibility as well, coming with an NFC sensor that pairs your headphone to any NFC-enabled device. Just give the right earcup a single tap, and you’re instantly connected. With this level of intuitive technology at play, it’s hard not to notice how the S400BT simplifies like never before. Others will definitely take notice: a built-in LED lighting system trails the touch of your hand in reaction to each adjustment made to your headphone’s settings. Now you can showcase your listening experience at the speed of light. Viewed as a whole, the S400BT is a wireless headphone that’s meant to celebrate - as much as to simplify – premium listening. Chances are you’ve never witnessed a headphone that comes even close to this.

Great choice over Beats/similar competitionI got these to wear at the gym. I didn't want to spend $300+ on Bose, or however much the comparable Beats were. Got these for $79 on black friday, didn't realize how much of an awesome deal that was. The bass response is insane--sounds so good. Overall sound quality is perfect. I'm somewhat of an audiophile, and bought these simply to drown out noise at the gym, but did not expect them to blow me away like this. For $79, they are an absolute steal. Even for $229, I would definitely consider them over the competition.

Is there a smartphone APPlication I can use to see battery charge level?
Asked by: Raedwulf
Unfortunately, there's no available app for the SYNCHROS S400BT. However, when the SYNCHROS S400BT is paired to the iOS device, a small battery symbol will appear, usually next to the Bluetooth symbol. This is a battery level indicator.

I have trouble pairing my Synchros S400BT and Macbook Pro using Mac OS X 10.6.8. The computer does not even find the headphone. What is its device address? Can you help?

Bluetooth compatibility should be checked before connecting any Bluetooth capable device to one another, i.e recent/newer model mobile devices came out with Bluetooth version 4.1 which is compatible with these Bluetooth Profiles: A2DP V1.3, AVRCP V1.4, HFP V1.6, HSP V1.2. Some laptops(Mac/Windows based) comes with Bluetooth version 4.1 which also has the aforementioned Bluetooth Profiles. Some older versions of laptops only has the Bluetooth version 3.0 and below, which is not a problem with Bluetooth version 4.1 in terms of connectivity as Bluetooth version 4.1 is said to be backwards compatible, so connecting a device with a higher version of Bluetooth to another device with a lower version of Bluetooth is possible. The concern now is if the laptop's Bluetooth version is capable of Bluetooth audio streaming using the latest Bluetooth Streaming Profiles( A2DP V1.3, AVRCP V1.4, HFP V1.6, HSP V1.2 ). If the computer is not capable of streaming audio wirelessly via Bluetooth, you would need to update the Bluetooth version of your laptop. Firmware(drivers) and Software updates are available from the manufacturer of the laptop/computer.

I got this pair of headphones for Christmas. I'm not sure if it just my pair or not but when I'm working out they cut out every once in awhile. They sound like they crackle and do not hold a steady connection
Asked by: Tanner
There are a couple of things to be considered here.
1. If you are using the wired connection, make sure the cable is securely connected on both ends. A loose cable can cause a crackle like sound.
2. If you are using them via Bluetooth, try moving your device to the other side of your body. Bluetooth radio signals do not go through your body very well.

What is the proper way to charge these?
Asked by: Jb8301
The Synchros S400BT comes with a micro USB cable that you can plug into your laptop or computer. The 2.5 mm jack end will need to be plugged in on the right ear phone that is located between the power and the bluetooth button.

There is a CTIA cable to use with the S400BT, for, when wired, maintain the audio control and microfone (by the cable) functionality?
Asked by: Rafael Fischer
The S400BT only comes with a straight cable that does not have an inline remote and this disables the controls on the S400BT.

Can these be used for d.j.ing ,?
Asked by: Choice
Yes, the S400s will work via the wired connection. These are an on-ear design so if you are doing a louder set, the S500s might be another pair to look at. They are over the ear and may block out some of the ambient noise.

I opened these and used them one time then put on charger. Light stayed red for 2 and never turned white. So took off charger to use and now they won't come on. They play with wire attached but not wirelessly. Why is this?
Asked by: DameMedia
What you are experiencing is not normal. The S400BT would show a red light when the battery requires a charge. It is possible that the S400BT did not charge at all during your first try. In order to ensure that the issue is caused by a defect in the S400BT, try charging the unit again with the provided cable on different power sources and if available, a different charging cable.
If this doesn't help, please submit a request at www.jbl.com/contactus and the Customer Service team will be more than happy to further assist you.
