Synchros S500 is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply amazing! I've had several different headphones in the past like AKG, Grado and Sennheiser but these JBL's are simply a huge step above. With the Livestage off, they are very nice but with just a flick of the switch, they turn your head into a concert hall! Simple words cannot explain the feeling you get between your ears other than sheer listening bliss. Before these, my latest headphones were the Sennheiser HD-595's which will now reside in a drawer. Sure, they were nice but they do not provide the sonic clarity or the full frequency response as the JBL S500's. I find myself not wanting to turn the music off as I can listen to these for hours. I am extremely happy with these great looking and well built headphones. I wholeheartedly believe that JBL has the best headphones for the money bar none! Thanks JBL, you continue to define what music is all about.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superlative I've listened to only a handful of songs with my new S500 and I was compelled to write a review. I've taken back Beats, Samsung, and auditioned countless others. These smoke em! I do audio engineering as a career and have been a music and HiFi aficionado for all of my life and never have been so impressed with a set of headphones as I am with these. Jump on the opportunity - buy them now! Can't wait to try the DSP out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome!!! Wow... These things are so great! First things first... I'm an audiophile. I love Hi-Fi. I am also a mix engineer so I notice the little nuances that music has. JBL has to be my favorite audio brand by far. When you're at a concert, You're very likely to be listening to JBL Vertec speakers. When you're at a restaurant of bar. Theres a great chance JBL control series is what you're listening to. Harman as a brand is such a great company... (Sorry for that side note) Very detailed mid's, crisp highs, and deep bass. When switching back and fourth from the LiveStage mode, and the regular position, I have noticed less bass, and more highs in LiveStage mode. Both positions sound absolutely fantastic. I find myself listening to music more with LiveStage off. Not really sure why. LiveStage mode defiantly sounds wider and more open. As I write this review, I'm listening to them. As far as other things go: packaging was nicely put together. They come with a nice hard-shell case. My ONLY complaint would be that on the side the cable plugs into the headphones, its not a standard 3.5mm cabe connector. It is very nice that the cable detaches at all! Looks: gosh.. these look as good as they sound. I got the "slate" black version. They are honestly a little bigger than I thought they would be, but that docent bother me one bit. All in all. They are great!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from JBL Did it Right. Whoa just got these and out the case they sound AMAZING. Playing Patricia Barber Yellow Car III(Instrumental) and everything is clear and separation is great. It's feels like the band is here. WOWEE! Raquel Rodriguez Not My Night has a nice horn and Wah-wah guitar that sounds amazing. Her vocals are clear as a bell and the bass/drum cybals is just right. No BOOM here folks. Grace Weber's Only You Set Me Free acoustic opening is clear as the guitar players pick the acual strum. The Tamborine is clear in the background(never heard that before) Being that these are my first JBL headphones(I had a couple of JBL speakers, but they drowned) I'm amazed. Gotta get the Fiona Apple stuff out I bet I will hear stuff I've never heard. These are a steal. I bet you guys would love them. Oh and they are comfy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great detailed sound I finally had enough of spending my money on better and better ear buds that still kept getting loose in my ear and decided to switch to over-ear and go all in with these headphones and I am not disappointed. They sound fantastic and reproduce music very accurately. It’s easy to hear every instrument and every little sound an instrument makes, like every squeak of the fingers or the pick on guitar strings. It was even annoying at first that I could hear every little imperfection in recordings but I gladly trade this occassional disturbance for the superior music quality. The bass is very nice, round, softly resonating. I do not think the headphones are “bass-heavy” as I read in another review. They will not overpower the rest of the music with some club-thumping bass. They will just let you hear the low end, too. I find that the LiveStage feature works well in certain situations. I like to listen to some stuff in regular mode to get totally immersed in music but I like to use Live stage to lift music out of my head when I don’t want to get too distracted. For example, sometimes it bothers me if the singer appears to be singing right in the middle of my head because that is where I would like to be when I work. I like how LiveStage lifts the music out of my head and places it in front of me. Compared to the regular mode at the same volume, LiveStage seems to be a bit less powerful. This may give one the false impression that Live Stage does not sound as good but a little volume adjustment will help to deliver a similarly rich experience – just a different kind. I find that the headphones are very comfortable once the headband is set to the right tension. Everything looks sturdy and well made. The iphone cable works well but I miss a cable with the thicker (5 mm?) plug or a converter to connect to some hi-fi equipment.

Hi, do these headphones fold?

Asked by: Nikos
The Synchros S500 headphones can not fold in half, however you can adjust the ear pads so the headphones can lay flat which makes it easy and safe to travel with.

Recently the sound is not coming out of the right side unless you jiggle the cord just right.  I thought it was the cord and bought a new one but still the same.  Any suggestions on the cause?

Asked by: Boomer23
Unfortunately, it sounds as if your current headphones are defective. Please contact the JBL Customer Support for information about your warranty options, thank you!

Asked by: Spalter78
Primarily they are both the same with the S500 available in either white or black. The Slate model comes in "slate black". Both models sound amazing with the Livestage on.

Hello, recently I buy from a shop overseas my beloved jbl s500 headphones. Now the sound is not coming out of the left side unless I jiggle the cord just right. I thought it was the cord and bought a new one but still the same.  Any suggestions or ideas?

If changing the cords doesn't make any difference then the cause may be inside the headphones, I noticed you're from Romania, For further assistance, Please contact our distributors in Romania SOUNDMASTERS SRL at +40 21 3168555 or shoot them an email through mihailungu@soundmasters.ro .

Hi are these compatible on a Windows 10 pc. Or is the sound degraded or lowered when connected. Are they just for portable devices?

Asked by: Headphone shopper
Because these headphones use an audio jack, they will be compatible with all devices that support a 3.5 mm headphone socket.
