Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Speakers but need good equipment upstream I share the positive sentiments that others have. JBL makes speakers that cost as much as a condominium and can't imagine how great they must sound to command those prices. These were apparently designed by Greg Timbers who designed some of these statement speaker designs and sadly let go by JBL recently, sigh. These as any speaker deserve something better than a big box home theater receiver I'm my very humble opinion. Running mine with an Ayre AX7-e integrated with a Sony Hi-Res player where I have some 700 discs on the hard drive. Have had more expensive systems in the past but with the sensitivity of these speakers and the Sony Hi-Res player feeding the Ayre integrated balanced inputs the sound is quite magical. Do have to complain about the delivery process with JBL and Estes as it was horrible with poor communication from the beginning to the end with repeated missed delivery promises but in the end am happy with the speakers even though hi-fi snobs may snear about these relatively inexpensive JBL towers. They are big and the 2001 Space Odyssey monolith look may not appeal to everyone but if you have the room and can be patient these may be all the speaker you need but again don't feed it low fidelity sources to get the most out of them, again just my 2 cents.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Proud owner Truly amazing! And after six months I'm still blown away every time I listen..I have heard speakers costing tens of thousand of dollars that didn't sound as good! Best money i have ever spent..Btw I have heard people say to get a sub woofer..IDK where they get that? The bass is deep and powerful as if a sub was on! Depending on you're amp don't waste money on a sub in my opinion it would be over kill!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from jbl studio 590 bk i bought these jbl s back in 2015 . at that time i had a onkyo tx nr 5010 receiver top model and i had it hooked up with these speakers on bi amp good sound but to much boom in the low range . so i placed the speakers about 80 cm from the wall it got a lot better. .but after a while i realized that i m a real music lover i need to change my setup so in 2017 i started to go for the onkyo p 3000 r and two m 5000 r power amps i made the set complete with dab tuner . onkyo cp 1050 turntable with ortofon 2m bronze pnp cartridge . i bought second hand loudspeaker cable straitwire crescendo type 2 for midrange and low end. for the compession tweeter b&w loudspeaker cable cdc t 16 . wow a sound . take my word for it nothing comes close at this price range .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Crisp clear sound with rich deep bass I have (2) two sets of Studio 590. My first set that I have had for several years are at my house. They are running on a Conrad-Johnson ET5 and a pair of Classic 60 SE, one on the highs and one on the lows. They are a wonderful with a Crisp Clear Sound and the imaging is Phenomenal. I had no issues with the delivery of these speakers, since I purchased them in the store. My second set of Studio 590 are at my second home and part of a much larger home theater system. I am running a Harman-Kardon 1710 S, which is a 7.2 system with 100w per channel. As part of the system I am running (2) two HKTS 16. The Studio 590 still don't disappoint on sound quality. However, I purchased these DIRECTLY from JBL. I was given a delivery date and service that was completely inaccurate. I was given a UPS tracking number, however since they weigh over 50# it is Shipped freight by a company called Estes, I called customer service and they gave me the necessary information. But then another company had to schedule home delivery, because Estes doesn't deliver to home addresses. I ended up picking up the speakers myself. Since I only have a car I was hit with rental fees and time away from work. IF you do purchase these speakers do yourself a favor and pay for the shipping. Because my costs incurred were in between the overnight and the 2 day options.

Are there any surround speakers that would match the studio 590s well. There are the 530s but they are simply too expensive (1k or more) to use just for surround so are there any alternatives? Thanks.

Asked by: Nick flicks
I would think, the reason for this page would be to hear some feedback from you JBL. So other people like my self can feel more reassurance about this purchase. 1000 per speaker may not be a big deal for you but a lot of you consumers have very little money to spend on thing like speaker. We all dream about having a great sound system and we all would love to one a pair of your speakers so PLEASE answer questions so we can show our wives that the money we are spending will be a great investment for our future. Hello, which surround speakers are designed to match the Studio 580 and/or 590? I can find any offerings available which have the same tweeter design. Thanks!

Asked by: Z06Dude
The STUDIO 210 is the surround speaker that was designed for this series. If you do not mind having bigger speakers as your surround, mounted on your walls, the STUDIO 230 would also work as great surround speakers.

I love all JBL speakers but have a question. Studio 290's are 1/2 the price and use the same woofers as the 590's Unlike the 590's, the 290's also have a midrange driver. Here's the Question: "For home theater use, why is the 590 superior to 290?"

Asked by: HTFan
The main difference is the number and type of speakers inside. The 290 has two(2) 8" woofers, one(1) 4" mid-range and a 1" tweeter while the 590 has higher quality 8" woofers and a 1" horn loaded tweeter allowing it to accept up to 250W, a higher rating than the 290. The Studio 590 will definitely deliver an extraordinarily lifelike performance.

Would these Studio 590 work well with the Studio LC2 center channel? i see the matching Studio 520c is no longer available. I’m was looking at getting the Studio L890, however, after reading several reviews on the 590’s, i’m thinking about getting these.

Asked by: Jaymund
Hi, The Studio 590 should work well with the Studio LC2 center channel as long as you don't crank up the volume of the receiver. The Studio 590 can handle 250 watts at 6 ohms while the LC2 handles 150W at 8 ohms.

I was reading lots of comments above and how great the speaker is.  Can this speaker use for karaoke?  The family and friend really enjoy karaoke night.  Unfortunately, I had bad experience with JBL JRX100 that current sit inside my closet.

What would be a matching and most applicable sound-wise center speaker to the Studio 590?

Asked by: Nicki1
The 520C is the speaker specifically designed to be the center channel with the 590 towers.  However, I recently bought another 590 tower as my center!  I put it behind my TV, and even in that weird position I think it sounds better than a 520C in front of my TV (I know, because I used to own the 520C).  My plan is to one day get an acoustically transparent screen and use a projector.  When the sound doesn't have a TV interfering with it, the 590 center will perfectly match the 590 left/right speakers.

Recommendation for Avr/amp?

Asked by: snibbb
The STUDIO 590 can handle power up to 250W at 6-ohms. As long as your receiver is rated at 6-ohms and can drive power handling does not exceed 250W, it should work fine.
