Reviews and Q&A

Customer Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Sound, Easy Setup, Great Buy I was in the market to remove my 5.1 wired home theater system and looked all of the over hyped guys. They all sounded great but were amazingly expensive. On a pure stroke of luck I remember that I had just bought the Flip 4 and was in love with it. I checked the JBL site and saw that they sold home theater products. After some more research I chose the SB 450. The other reviewers do a great job of telling you what it is: Amazing sound, super easy connectivity and setup, and overall a solid product. This sub is amazing! Use the Harmon Sound button on the remote to maximize the experience for each medium you play. Everything works outstanding and for me personally it is worth replacing a wired "home theater" sound with two pieces of wireless hardware. You will not be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally got it to work, Awesome system could not get it work with cables that it came with, had to change the settings on my tv, in sound setting switched from bitrate to PCM, and DTS 2.5 to PCM aswell, on my samsung K-Series tv, once I did that the HDMI VRC cable worked, then also make sure if your using a OPTICAL CABLE be sure to remove the nipple covers that come on brand new cables. The optical cable thing was very frustrating but read some forums and figured out the problem. The remote control sucks by the way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid bass, mids aren't bad. Worth the money Very good soundbar system with solid bass, very powerful and with stable lower frequency. Mids are good, better than most other I had. Voices are clear. Only I have to volume down the basses during news and tv shows as it's too much when changing from music to news. But not a big deal. Overall sound performance is very good. Only negative is the delivery - it took 10 days...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jbl sb450 Just bought this system in dubai and really impressed with it so far. Certainly better for movies than music but still does a decent job of tunes. The bass is awesome and really brings the movie alive. Seems pretty good bang for my buck and looking forward to the speakers bedding in and the sound getting better and better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from JBL SB 450 Bought this last week; great performance but lacks the on-screen display. The settings including bass & Herman volume can only be controlled through the remote control and there's no visual way to check your settings. I'll strongly recommend JBL to provide an on-screen display through a system update. Thanks.

Product Q&A

My soundbar is not playing the first 1-2 seconds of audio from a source. When starting movies/videos the audio does not start until 1-2 seconds after the video, but is in sync. Also, when using devices that have menu click sounds, these are not heard.

Asked by: cxray
This can be caused by the formatting that your source device is using and the TV can accept and output. If your source device (Bluray, gaming console, DVD..) is set to output Dolby Digital/DTS, and your TV can only output two-channel digital signal (PCM) when connected via HDMI-ARC, this requires the TV to process the signal before it sends it to the SB450. This takes enough time to cause such delay. Try to use an optical cable from the TV to the SB450 if you are using HDMI or to set your source device to send PCM signals only to the TV. This should fix your issue.

What are the similarities and differences between this model and the SB 400. They are the same price--is there any reason not to get this one if I do not have a 4K TV?

Asked by: steveZ
Both speakers comes with a wireless (8 inch, 200 watt) subwoofer and has Bluetooth to stream audio. According to the specs, the new SB 450 has a bigger amplifier which ought to provide bigger and better sound. It also has a handful of new features such as JBL Connect, which allows one to link and play music with another JBL Connect enabled speaker simultaneously. Considering the price, features, and specs, I do not see any reason not to get the SB 450. The speaker will still perform great with your current TV and if choose to upgrade to a 4K model, the SB 450 will work seamlessly.

Do I have to switch from HDMI source to optical every time I play usb connected devices on tv

Asked by: Hojas
If your TV has HDMI ARC then you might not have to switch connections when playing via USB. However some TV applications and/or connections, in this case USB, may not be compatible with HDMI. If this is true for your TV model, then optical switching is necessary.

You have an app that connects to sound bar to know the exact power and directions ?

Hi, Unfortunately we don't have any application that does that as the soundbar is only powered through plugging in to the power source.

Is my ARC port broken? When i plug my Fire Tv and Cable box into my Samsung One Connect and use the ARC to the soundbars ARC, i get no sound. Those same devices into the soundbar, sound works.
