Compact style. Killer sound.

The JBL GTX500 is the ideal upgrade for those car audio enthusiasts who want exceptional bass without breaking the bank. And don’t let its size fool you. While the GTX500 may be compact, with a max power output of 750 watts you can drive your subs as you see fit. While its true JBL sound sets it apart from other subwoofer amps, it’s ease-of-use and installation, configuration and calibration makes it truly stand out—it connects to OEM or aftermarket systems without complicated adapters or setup routines.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clean power and lots of it... I recently purchased this unit and have been very impressed with not only how much boom it delivers, but how it pushes for hours and doesn't break a sweat. I have it hooked up to a Kicker CompR 12" in a Kicker ported box. Power is fed via 8 gauge power and ground w/ 8 gauge copper between the amp and sub as well. I can rattle someone's windows from across the road but I use my setup mostly to provide balanced and clean low range audio in my Jeep. Just make sure your speakers are rated for 500W RMS minimum since JBL has been a bit modest with their power ratings.

I recently purchased a pair of CX 1200 subs and a GTX 500 amp I'm trying to figure out which input setting I should be using low, H1 or H2 I have a Kenwood head unit with RCAout sub jacks connected to the input RCA's on the amp.

Asked by: Rancho1
If your Amplifier is connected to the RCA leads of the Kenwood, Use the Low setting. And you will need a Remote Turn On lead. Usually a Blue wire in the Radio Harness.

Will this amplifier can provide power for 2 subwoofersJBL S2-1224 1100 watts?

Asked by: allen12
Actually yes you can power 2 subs off this amp. Either select both woofers at 2 ohms, and wire in series, or select both woofers at 4 ohms and wire in parallel.

My amp has power but won't power the sun so I took it back to Best Buy and got a new one then i hooked it up and it won't work low it's flashes a red light h1 it doesn't play same with h2 I don't know what's happening I've checked everything

Asked by: Mike Marshall
I assume that the vehicle's electrical system is supplying between 9V and 16V DC to the amplifier. If the supply voltage is outside of this range, correct the condition before attempting to use the amplifier. Disconnect all speakers from the amplifier and attempt to turn it on again: – If the amplifier turns on (the Power LED is orange), THIS MEANS THE AMP IS OKAY AND there is a short circuit in one or more of the speaker wires OR SPEAKERS. Correct all short circuits before reconnecting the speakers to the amplifier. – If the amplifier does not turn on (the Protection LED is still red and the Power LED is off), please submit a case at www.jbl.com/contactus and the Customer Service team will be more than happy to further assist you.

can this amp be used to create a home or outdoor sub with home theater system

Asked by: V V 777777
The amp is specifically designed to be used in car audio setups. However, if you have corresponding converters such as voltage converters, you can use the amp in a different setup other than car audio setups. The amp only requires 12V to function and home power outlets are rated at 110V or 220V depending on the region. The amp also has a rated power output of 350W RMS x 1 @ 4 ohms,500W RMS x 1 @ 2 ohms and most home theater speakers have a rated impedance of 8 ohms, so it would be an issue of matching the impedance of your speakers to the amp.

Can this amp be wired to 2 dvc 4 ohm subs for a total of 1 ohm impedance, i.e. Connecting the voice coils of each driver in parallel and the drivers themselves in parallel, or does it need to be wired for a total of 4 ohm impedance? Thanks

Asked by: Wolf of Mibu
Ideally, if you are using a 4 ohm dual voice coil speaker, you would use it as two separate speakers, connecting one amp channel to each coil on the speaker. This would allow the amp to run at 4 ohms, running cool and giving the best sonic results. However, if you want a single amp channel to see a 2 ohm load, running a bit hotter and giving more power, you would connect the amps positive terminal to the positive terminal on each voice coil of the speaker, and the negative amp terminal to the negative terminal on each voice coil as well. Wiring in series is a bit more complicated, and will cause the amp to see an 8 ohm load. 1. Connect the negative amp terminal to the negative terminal on one of the voice coils. 2. Connect the positive terminal on the same voice coil to the negative terminal on the other voice coil. 3. Connect the remaining positive terminal to the positive terminal on the amp. This works well when you want to connect two dual voice coil speakers to one amp while letting it see a 4 ohm load. You would connect two speakers in series to the same amp terminals to accomplish this.

Just got a new gtx500. Installed myself all went well then two days later the red protect light came on. Made sure all fuses and connections looked good. Kinda at a loss for what to try next, any help would be appreciated

Thank you for your question, what are you driving on this amplifier, wattage and ohms of the speaker. do you see if there is any terminals or exposed wire touching anything else. Please contact one of our support team for warranty replacement.
