SSI™ (Selectable Smart Impedance)

Most car audio system designs call for 2- or 4-ohm impedance. Series II subwoofers feature an exclusive dual impedance switch that lets you choose either load impedance option. Not available from any other manufacturer, SSI lets you reconfigure your system by simply flipping a switch.

Description

Strong on performance, big on flexibility.

Car audio systems rely on powerful bass for great sound. System designers look for configuration flexibility. The Club Series deliver both. Designed to suit a range of applications, these 10- and 12-inch subwoofers produce signature JBL bass performance in sealed or vented enclosures. But the flexibility doesn’t end there. These subwoofers feature SSI™ (Selectable Smart Impedance), an exclusive impedance switch that lets you select the optimum impedance—2 or 4 ohms—for your system. So you get the powerful JBL bass you want, in the configuration you choose.

Product Q&A

can this be free aired

Thank you for your question, We recommend using a box for the subwoofer so you can definitely experience the subwoofer in it's full potential.

Would a sealed enclosure with 1.00cu.ft of air space be okay? I understand that 0.75 is recommended but could it perform well and without damage in a 1.00 enclosure.

Asked by: matt38
Thanks for reaching out. It's okay to use a 1.00 ft³, 0.25 ft³ difference is not a big enough difference to drastically affect anything in this sealed box. 1 cubic foot is fine.

I Have a JBL GTR1000 amp. I'm currently using 3 stage122d subwoofers in a 4.88 cube box. Can I run 3 of the club 1224 subs off this amp? And at what ohm load? And will it possibly get me more output?

Asked by: Maxx4386
Thanks for your inquiry. Our GTR1001 can run the JBL Club1224 with 4 impedance to get a louder output.

Does this subwoofer need an external amplifier? If so what amplifier would you recommend.

Asked by: swyman116
To get the most out of the subwoofer, yes. Basically any amplifier that's 2-4 ohms and within 275W RMS (1100W Peak).
