S2-1024SS Slipstream™ port design - Image

Slipstream™ port design

At high sound pressure levels, air flow turbulence inside a vented enclosure’s port can create noise that sounds like woofer break up. The patented Slipstream port in Series II enclosures uses a double-flared design to minimize turbulence, and eliminate unwanted vortices.

S2-1024SS SSI™ (Selectable Smart Impedance) - Image

SSI™ (Selectable Smart Impedance)

Most car audio system designs call for 2- or 4-ohm impedance. Series II subwoofers feature an exclusive dual impedance switch that lets you choose either load impedance option. Not available from any other manufacturer, SSI lets you reconfigure your system by simply flipping a switch.

Features

S2-1024SS High-roll surround - Image

High-roll surround

Series II enclosures incorporate a high-roll surround that provides superior cone edge suspension while maximizing excursion. It not only increases the cone area, it also provides remarkable linear stability and reliability.

S2-1024SS Proprietary cone design - Image

Proprietary cone design

JBL subwoofer cones aren’t just built to thump, they’re built to last. Series II enclosures feature an exclusive cone design that delivers superior rigidity for long-lasting performance.

S2-1024SS Long excursion design - Image

Long excursion design

The longer a subwoofer’s excursion is, the more air it moves. And the more air it moves, the more bass you feel. The long-excursion design in Series II enclosures ensures big, deep bass output. Just the way you like it.

Description

Series II enclosures deliver the enhanced efficiency and higher output of a vented enclosure, without the distracting noise or “chuffing” generated by a port. The patented Slipstream port dramatically reduces port noise at high sound pressure levels by minimizing airflow turbulence. With high-roll surrounds, proprietary cone design and long-excursion, Series II enclosures deliver deep, powerful bass, with greater accuracy than conventional ported boxes. And the exclusive SSI™ (Smart Selectable Impedance) switch lets you choose 2- or 4-ohm impedance for maximum configuration flexibility. It’s everything you want in a compact, easily installed enclosure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing big bass! I have had this sub and enclosure in my F150 for over a year now. I run it at 2 ohms powered by a Rockford Fosgate BD500 mono amp. This thing hits hard! I was pleasantly surprised, especially for the price.

Product Q&A

Can i match the S2-1024ss or the S2-1224ss with the GTX500 amplifier. Will the extra power damage the speaker?

Asked by: Drew27
That amo is perfect for it! The sub is 250RMS and the amp is 350RMS which is just right. You should ALWAYS over power your subs just a bit. Just set your gains properly and your good to go! I have always over powered by at least 2-4 hundred RMS. Your good.

How do you install this in an SUV?

Asked by: Bennet
Thanks for your question. Our JBL S2-1024SS doesn't have any special instructions since you just need to have a space that is large enough to fit with it's measurements(L = 570mm x W = 315mm x H = 385mm) and an amplifier that can run on either 4 ohms or 2 ohms. Connect your amplifier to this subwoofer using speaker wires and make sure you select the correct impedance switch corresponding to the amplifier that you're using. If you have more questions, please contact us so we can help you.

Will this sub work with other brands of amps?

Asked by: Kory
Yes. The S2-1024SS can handle power up to 250W at 2/4 ohms. As long as your amplifier can drive power of 250W per channel at 2/4 ohms, then it will be compatible.

Asked by: Biscuit96
Our JBL S2-1024SS has a selectable impedance that's why it has 4 leads. Please use a continuity tester and trace where the black and red terminals are connected so you could connect your new sub.
