Product Q&A

Are the crossovers the same size as the 660 gti crossovers? And do they come in the same huge packaging?

Thank you for your question; the new 670GTi uses two much smaller crossover networks instead of one large unit found on the 660GTi component speaker. This makes for an easier installation process. The packaging on the newer model are quite small as well.

The 670GTI has one set of inputs on the crossovers, so they aren't designed for bi-amping when using the included crossovers.​ If you want to bi-amp, you can use external crossovers either built into the amp, or before getting to the amp, but this is not recommended, as the provided crossovers are quite intricate and are not easy to duplicate with external crossovers. You will likely get the best sonic results using the provided crossovers.

I notice a change between the 660Gti and the 670Gti tweeters. The 660Gti had a titanium dome and the 670Gti has a textile (fabric) dome. Please describe the sound characteristics between the two tweeters and why the change? Thanks!

Hi there! Thank you for reaching out. The JBL 670GTi replaced the older 660 in 2015. Textile is more “organic” in its sound and a softer material. Metals like titanium are more immediately detailed and may have more accentuated transients, but may also have less “body” and may suffer problems in the transition from tweeter to midrange since most midranges are not made of metal.
