JBL SOUNDGEAR is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 37.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for naps and cooking I fell asleep wearing this. I laid down, told my house AI to set a timer and fell asleep. Now the bad part. Unfortunately the system shuts it self down before the battery is fully drained, this is bad. Stagnant charge is debilitating to a battery. This flaw lessen the longevity of this device. :( could have been great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent and safer alternative to headphones! I was intrigued upon first hearing about the JBL Soundgear...even though it meant having some speakers hanging by my neck. After thoroughly using the Soundgear around the house and even during some errands and walks in the park, I can say I have come around. The Soundgear creates this personal surround sound atmosphere, allowing you to listen to your music and take calls hands-free while you work or play. The build quality is very good, though I would think a little more flexibility in the joints would be welcome. I think JBL is on to something here, since the Soundgear could make listening to music safer in some instances, like when biking, allowing your music to be heard but also letting you keep an open ear for sounds of trouble, sirens, horns, etc. This would obviously not be for everyone but I think plenty of people will find the Soundgear useful and enjoyable. Also the fact that you're not pumping high-volume sound directly into your ear canal has to be a plus, keeping your ears safe from sound-induced damage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from JBL DOES IT AGAIN !!!! I love the JBL Sound Gear. It was very user friendly and easy to operate. It took me less than five minutes for me to learn how to properly operate the headphones. The bluetooth function connected flawlessly to several devices I used to test this function. It fits smoothly on the neck and did not feel awkward or out of place. The weight distribution of the Sound Gear fitted just right on my neck. The sound quality of the Sound Gear was crisp and clear. The four speakers located in this unit did a great job of providing a "surround sound" quality that I was very pleased with. Great job JBL!!! I would recommend the JBL Sound Gear to all my friends and family.

What's the difference between this model and the BTA version?

Asked by: Doug in Oakland
The main difference between the Soundgear and the Soundgear BTA would be the Soundgear BTA's Wireless Audio Transmitter feature which enables a convenient Bluetooth® connection to the TV to better immerse yourself in a movie.Enjoy a synchronized audio experience as a result of AptX low latency. Using either input optical or auxiliary audio available makes your Soundgear compatible with most TVs.

This was supposed to be released in spring/early summer and I hoped the delay was to improve the specs but they still seem subpar. $200 for 6 hours of battery life and there's no fast charging? go off i guess

Do these have a Jack I can plug in a device to or is it only Bluetooth?

Asked by: docd
Unfortunately, the JBL Soundgear does not have an aux input. The only port it has is the micro USB for charging.

The transmitter for the BTA version specifies low-latency but that is missing from the JBL Soundgear specs. Will the JBL Soundgear work with an APTx low-latency transmitter from a different vendor, and if so what is the rated latency?

Asked by: Who Done It
The JBL Soundgear can play with other Bluetooth sources. Latency with BTA transmitter is specified as below 40 ms, which is the guaranteed maximum latency for the APTx low-latency system. Although we may not guarantee anything with transmitters from other vendors, we guarantee that our low-latency specification with both our devices. Generally speaking, transmitters that are certified as such would give you less than 40 ms latency. We hope this information helps. If you have further questions, please reach out to your local JBL Support. Thank you!

Can this be linked to tv sound

Asked by: Bookkeeper
I would recommend using the Soundgear BTA for you to experience sound on your TV. It has a BTA that will allow you to connect to your TV via optical cable and would transmit the signal back to your Soundgear for an awesome experience.
