Wow this is definitely my favourite speaker by far. Not only does it sound Amazing (Nice crisp clear sound) but it looks amazing too with it’s light shows. It’s made of glass but don’t let that put you off as it’s a really tough little speaker. It’s also waterproof so you can take it to the beach with you or even use it in the shower with no worries. One of my favourite things about it is you can even get an app on your phone where you can customise the colour scheme for the light shows. If you have more than one of these speakers you can put it in a party setting and play music on all of them.

Amazing optics and room filling sound
This first came on my radar by YouTuber Flossy Carter who had an early review on his YouTube page. Once I saw it I was hooked. I had never seen any earlier iteration of the Pulse series and I am fortunate enough to have made this one my first.
This speaker looks amazing on or off. Just looking at it turned off exudes cool...then you turn it on. Oh my goodness, it looks slick and the sound is big and loud. For its size, it sounds great - better in every way over my other SoundLink mini 1 & 2 Bluetooth speakers from Bose. I can't speak to having PartyBoost over the older linking system because this is my first JBL speakers but I don't think it will be my last. I have already demo'd it for a friend who is ordering one now too.
Overall, super pleased with this new speaker. Great job, JBL

Exceeds my expectations
I bought this as a gif for my wife’s birthday, (which still is in 2 weeks from now) and as soon as it got to the house I wanted to hook it up and make sure she was going to like it. I use Bluetooth speakers everyday at work for the past 6 years so I’ve seen a few of them. This, without the light show, blew me away with the quality of output and how loud it actually got. This was everything I was lead to believe it was and then some. VERY SATISFIED! So satisfied I went ahead and gave it to the wife so she could see and use it herself. Only downfall is her bday is still 2 weeks away so I’ve got to get her something else now for the day of...

My first real speaker
This is my first real speaker and I’m happy with it. I’ve seen a lot of YouTube videos about the Pulse 4 and it was something I wanted to get for myself for a long time. The shipping was accurate and the packaging for the Pulse 4 is impressive. Kudos to the makers. I’ve listened to some songs from different genres and the sound on the Pulse 4 is really good, clear, and loud (even with the volume around the halfway mark). It is prone to fingerprints but I knew this ahead of time so I’m fine with it. It’s also a little heavy and bulky but not a deal breaker for me. The lights on the speaker are very cool. It’s one of the main reasons why I wanted the Pulse 4. I think it’s pretty unique. I know some people might’ve had some issues with the JBL Connect app but I haven’t had any. I think it’s a cool feature to manually choose the colors you’d like for the speaker. I personally don’t think it’s worth $249.95 even though it’s a really good quality speaker and from a great brand. Overall, I’m very happy with the Pulse 4.

This was a great purchase
I had previously owned the previous version the Pulse 3 and it was my favorite and still is but I love the pulse 4 the design of it is incredibly nice and modern and its loud although it cant connect to the boombox or other jbl products except the ones with partyboost its still a great speaker to have you will be satisfied from the luxury of opening the box to hearing it first turn on and light up your room its very much worth it.

Is there a mode where the lights can remain on but there's no audio coming out of the speaker? If so, how's the battery life in such a scenario, provided the product is only used as a light over one battery cycle?
No, the speaker will go on standby and turn off if there is no music playing on it for about 15 to 20 minutes.

How much better is the pulse 4 compared to the pulse 3
The sound was much better with Pulse 3. You want good sound from a speaker, JBL forgot that it seams. Get Pulse 3 back!

I followed up your guide and there is no option to show only one color, there are still at least two or three, even if select one. And the brightness on the minimal level is still too light.

Im having my trouble with my pulse 4.I turned on the speaker and I tried turning it off and it won't turn off.I tried factory resetting it and won't turn off.

Why can’t the Pulse 4 connect to Link Portable?? I wanted Google Assistant and thought I could at least link the Pulse to Link Portable, which has Google Assistant, but no! Deal breaker for me. Pulse is just a pretty light show otherwise.
Our JBL Pulse 4 has the JBL PartyBoost feature which the JBL Link Portable doesn't have. JBL PartyBoost allows you to connect Bluetooth speakers with the PartyBoost feature together.
