Amazing!!!
I have had this speaker a couple weeks now. This thing is amazing!! It is really powerful! The battery lasts forever. I wasn’t listening to it loud but I listened to it for about 15 hours and the battery light barely dimmed down. The sound is the best sound I have heard out of a small portable speaker. I had the Bose Soundlink 2 before I upgrade to this and this one is like night and day compared to Bose. Half volume is the same as full volume on the Bose. Bose is a really good speaker but this is way better! I’m a musician so I like great sounding music. My only complaint is that it doesn’t float! I take it out on my boat and wish it would float but it doesn’t. Wish they would have made it to where if it fell into the water it wouldn’t sink to the bottom... but it’s still a 5 star!

Cool speaker
Only problem I have is that sometimes is just disconnects from iPad and while connecting JBL speaker to speaker it will just disconnect but when speaker works correctly the sound is awesome in music or streaming television I have both camouflage speakers white and green I would give five stars if JBL could figure out why speaker keeps disconnecting; I always have the speakers either right next to each other right next to device or about two feet away from device with the speakers about one foot apart

Handy little speaker
I've been testing this model for a week now as as the sun goes down its a great little speaker and very handy to have around. I wasn't sure what to expect as there are so many differing qualities of speaker out there but this was superb. The clarity of the sound was excellent and the bass really came through, we loved the speakers at the side vibrating - just a little quirky extra. Connectivity was really easy, just a few simple taps and the bluetooth function was connected. The design is modern and functional, waterproof been a bonus with our English weather! The only drawback was that the speaker is not 360 degrees so if you are sitting behind it where the controls are you don't get the surround of music I would like. A great little speaker, ideal for the backgarden and holiday usage.

Love it, loud enough
I live in a one bedroom apartment underneath a very boisterous neighbor. Regardless how much I turned up the volume on other speakers I could still hear him. After I got my Flip 5 I sat the speaker up high on a shelf near the ceiling and blasted Marilyn Manson. He got the message.
My only negative is that it doesn’t come with a remote. Not a problem when connected to my IPhone. But not other devices.
Looks wise although it comes in many colors I chose white because it matches my decor. It doesn’t look like a speaker. Blends in.
Battery is fantastic. I’ve used it all week for a couple of hours a day on one charge.
Great for a one bedroom and can’t beat the price for such quality. It’s solid.

This is a must-have speaker!
We rented a villa on St. John this past June and a JBL FLIP 5 was there. We used it the whole time and bought a teal one for ourselves. The family loves it so much that we just bought another one, this time, customized. The sound on this speaker is excellent and has a great range. You can line up the speaker with one or more others and increase the sound. I can take it to the beach without fear of it getting splashed. I'm certain I will buy another one as our whole family loves it.

Great Customization & The sound is Amazing!
I bought this with my logo on it is awesome. The print quality is great and couldn't be more satisfied. I've had the flip 4 for many years and the Flip 5 sounds more RICH. The only negative thing i could say is the charger cable for this is different than anything else that I own. So you will have to bring a special charging cable with you.

The JBL Flip 5 keeps the jamz going! The bass coming from speakers is phenomenal! You can see the beat of the music from looking at the Flip 5. This beautiful little speaker is loud enough for an outside party or inside get together. The best part of this speaker is that it is waterproof. We have used this in the pool and in the shower, as funny as that may be. If any of your friends have another one of these little wonders, you can connect them to create surround sound! Amazing. The only negative about these new Flip 5’s is that the charger is different than the others in JBL flip series, so they are no longer interchangeable. It also takes longer to charge than the others. Overall, definitely worth your money! It is the life of our pool parties!

Great clarity even at maxed volume
I got this speaker for work. It's was very loud at home. Unfortunately I work in a very loud factory so I wasn't able to hear it if I got very far away. I gave a good rating though because it is a good speaker and would be great for any other setting, just not with earplugs and a bunch of machines, hammering metal pieces etc. Though I will be returning this speaker, I will be sticking with JBL. The clarity is awesome. Even at max volume it does not peak on highs or mid range.

I love the USB-C charging it charges very fast. The sound is better than the FLIP 4 but it takes a fine tuned ear to hear the difference. I do wish y’all upgraded to Bluetooth 5.0. The features y’all took out like calling and using Siri through speaker are not a big deal to me since I didn’t use them anyway. The speaker being longer and heavier is not really noticeable. Overall I love the speaker. I do wish y’all would add color lights to the speaker for special effects.

Honestly for it being as small as it is I didn’t bit expect it to be that loud. I debated between this and getting the “Alexa” but I wanted I speaker I can have control of. Automatically connects to my phone when I turn it on, so no problem there. I cannot function in silence. I needed a speaker I can take everywhere. I can take it to my kitchen, my room, when I’m getting ready. This speaker is amazing. I’ve told my whole family about! They’ll be getting theirs soon.

WARNING: Does not pair with older models
A couple of years ago I bought a JBL Flip 4 specifically so that I could pair it with my Charge 3, since my old Flip 3 would no longer pair with it. I decided to add a third speaker to this party and ordered the new Flip 5 to pair with them. I couldn't get my Flip 5 to pair with any of my other speakers. I had to google the problem and found out via a YouTube video that the newer models, yet again, will not pair with any older models, and no firmware update will fix this.
I decided to go back to the product page to see if I missed a note that says it does not pair with older models, and I could not find this information anywhere. A handful of people in the YouTube comments had also ordered new speakers to pair with their existing ones, having no idea that it would not work. I decided to return my Flip 5 and buy another Flip 4 on Amazon so I wouldn't have to buy ALL new speakers. I really wish this would have been mentioned on the product page for those of us who are loyal to the brand!

Love the Flip 5
I love the Flip 5. The sound is great and very clear with no distortion. It is louder and has more bass then older Flip products. The speaker recharges quick and the battery last a long time. Also this Flip 5 comes with a hard case which is great for traveling. I recommend the Flip 5.

Party mode is embarrassingly bad
This speaker sounds fabulous when only one is playing. Unfortunately for me, I bought four with the understanding that all for could link through party mode. If you have a party with these speakers you will spend the evening apologizing to your guests for all the spotty cut outs in the music (I know because I have). The connection when in party mode is not worth using so if you’re buying for purposes of party mode (like I was) then don’t waste your money.

More Power, Bigger sound!
The JBL Flip5 is slightly bigger than it's predecessor Flip4. What you get is a bigger battery that last longer with more power. You also get a bigger sound. I love the fact that these series are water proof if you want to sit by the pool side or take it to the beach.
You also can take phonecalls via bluetooth.
The usb-c charge feature is good if you have the newer android phones or newer macbook pros the cords are interchangeable.
Great bluetooth speaker. I havent used the new party mode but willing to get another one to try! won't regret this purchase.

I bought this when it first came out. I thought I jumped the gun when I bought it and thought it wasn’t worth the upgrade from the JBL flip 4, but boy was I wrong. Definitely one off the best portable speakers I’ve ever owned. JBL continues to put out amazing speakers and sound quality. The only gripe I have isn’t the Bluetooth version and that it can’t connect to my Flip 4 via a software update. Other than that it’s a great speaker and worth the purchase

Great speak rubbish battery life
The speaker its self sound amazing especially with the party boost however the battery life if no where near 12hours at all i have it one for a maximum of 3/4 and it dies even when its plugged into its charger. Its very disappointing as i read the reviews previously to ensure i could charge it and listen at the same time. I will be in the middle of a song full blast theres no warning to say the batter is running low which is annoying then it turns off and i am unable to continue listening to music without the device turning its self off until it is fully charged

Does not work with computers but great with phones
The speaker connects to my mac laptop for a few seconds then disconnects. The speaker will be connected to my laptop but the music plays out my laptop speakers. I saw this was a common problem and troubleshooting got me nowhere. At least it works well with a phone.

It has amazing sound...And yet..
Don't get me wrong, this is an incredible Speaker from the outside and Sound Quality...
However, I've only had it since October and it randomly died.
I cannot get it to turn on thus I cannot even factory reset it, and it wont charge or anything at all.
Mine is acting completely void of life here...
Again, only had it since October.
Really upset. This was my favorite speaker... And I needed it for an online concert today in fricken quarantine...
I can't even find any way to trouble shoot it as it wont turn on at all :(
So no...I wouldn't recommend it.

Best small Bluetooth speaker I've heard! Better bass than previous version. Loud and clear miss and highs. The JBL/Harman sound is well balanced. I'm glad they kept the speaker phone feature. I got rid of my charge 4 because it didn't have that feature.

Good speaker but cnet tricked me
I had the Clip 2 and wanted to upgrade to a speaker with speaker phone capability. My friend has the flip 4 and I figured I'd get the 5 since it just came out. CNET review said this speaker had a mic to do phone calls. I just called support to find out it didn't. I feel like a fool and disappointed that they'd do away with this feature.

Very disappointing! I bought the speaker yesterday. And there are constantly background noises (like at the beach). And every few seconds the noise of two unrelated tunes. There are detachments for half a second which is very annoying. I would expect a company like jbl for a more reliable product. Very disappointed with this speaker. Does not match the expectation and does not seem to be sufficiently level, probably not for the price I paid

If the buttons on your portable speaker are not working properly or are unresponsive while plugged into a power source, please try running the speaker on battery. If the buttons perform correctly while running on battery, this means your power supply is not providing enough current/amps. Is there any audio lag issues with playing movies audio from PC over bluetooth (specifically if playing in left/right stereo with two)? Anyone have experience trying that setup?
What you are experiencing is a limitation of Bluetooth. When you start the video and audio at the same time, the audio will lag behind by the length of time it takes the Bluetooth hardware to receive, process, and output it which is known as Latency. You won’t notice this lag if you’re listening to music, but if you’re watching a video the sound may be marginally out of sync. Latency varies depending on the hardware and software setups you have.

Is the usb c port of the flip 5 also waterproof? Or do I need to cover it with a little plastic piece, because I don’t think I got one. In other words, if the charging port is open and it falls in water, will water enter?
Our JBL Flip 5 doesn't have the rubber flap charging port protector and you don't need to cover the port of the speaker. It has IPX7 waterproof rating, it is splashproof and can withstand being submerged into water for a depth of 3 feet up to 30 minutes only. Please make sure that the speaker is dry before charging again.

I use my Flip 5 pairs in my car to play podcasts and audiobooks from my phone. It also works for my GPS. But for some reason my phone will not play over the speaker. Is their a way to use the speaker for my phone calls?
Our JBL Flip 5 doesn’t have an internal microphone. The reason why it wasn’t included was due to feedback we received complaining about the music stopping whenever a call is received or made. Our product designers decided to remove this feature to prevent this happening. As the microphone was removed, voice assistant is no longer possible.

Why isn't my new flip 5 connecting to Bluetooth on my IPad
Try to do a reset on your JBL Flip 5. Here are the steps:
- Turn on your FLIP 5.
- Press and hold Volume+ and Bluetooth buttons simultaneously for more than 5 seconds.
- The speaker will turn off by itself, and boot up again.
- Press the Bluetooth button to start the pairing process.

Because of technology limitations, our Connect + enabled speakers (Charge 4, Flip 4, etc.) are not compatible with our new PartyBoost speakers (Flip 5). As Bluetooth improves, so do our products.
