Rated 5 out of 5 by JevanSmith2019 from Charge4 Audio Reproduction Signal Delay +/- .5 sec I loved my little Flip 3, very good quality, to say the least! Then JBL upgraded the quality significantly with Flip 4. I purchased the Charge 4: quality of audio reproduction like no other! The little round JBL speakers still make me laugh! The .5 sec audio delay of the Charge 4 skipping the first +/- .5 sec of the audio selection could be from damage from dropping during shipping and handling/warehousing, if not unauthorized manufacture in another Country, with U.S. Federal online reports of many, many unauthorized manufacturers of many, many of the biggest names in electric/electronic musical instruments, microphones, and many, many other products. DSP, Digital Signal Processing, in JBL models described by customer comments could be a problem, yet defect/damage is probably the problem. No problem! I will do a return/exchange! I LOVE JBL portable audio sound reinforcement/reproduction speakers!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Shuuk from Great Overall Speaker I just bought this speaker recently and have been testing it out both indoors and outdoors. I do have to say its probably one of the best speakers for its price, especially when I bought it for $125 when it was discounted. The battery on the speaker is great, the high and mid tones are excellent, and the build quality of the speaker is just awesome. Though I have to admit that this speaker downgraded from two round drivers in the Charge 3, now to just one rectangular-shaped driver in the Charge 4. The speaker is placed on the right side but you can't hear much of a difference unless you stand about 2 feet from it. This speaker does also last longer than what JBL marks it. I highly recommend this speaker, especially if you have the budget of adding 50 more dollars from the Flip 4's $100 mark. The Flip 4 is also a good speaker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lee G from Best bang for your buck The JBL Charge 4 is pretty impressive for such a small bluetooth speaker. Amazingly it only uses a single 50mm x 90mm driver that produces 30W of power. The single driver is accompanied by two passive bass radiators that assist to produce bass notes as low as 60hz. At first you may think why would JBL take the approach of using a single driver rather than dual divers? Well I can assure you that the single driver inside the Charge 4 is a high quality driver that produces excellent sound. The whole package just works and sounds great. I compared both the Charge 4 with its predecessor for hours and hours and this is my conclusion. The previous generation is a great sounding speaker however the Charge 4 sounds even better. Now you may think, how can a mono speaker outperform a stereo speaker? It's simple, the drivers in most small bluetooth speakers are so close to each other that is difficult for you to hear the stereo separation to begin with. To really hear stereo separation from a stereo speaker the left and right channels need to be further apart from each other. I found that the best listening position is vertically with the J from the JBL logo towards the bottom. The JBL Charge 4 sound is well balanced with clear vocals, great treble and great bass. The mid-range frequencies are pushed forward and crystal clear. The Charge 4 is powered by a 27Wh battery rated at 7,800mah and is rated at 20 hours play time between charges. The JBL Connect+ allows you to pair additional JBL speakers with the same feature flawlessly. This is a great feature for syncing several speakers throughout a party area. Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity is good with long range and the speaker is IPX7 water proof just in case you need to submerge it in water. The materials and build quality is excellent as usual. The charging port has now been upgraded to USB C and the speaker can charge your phone via a standard USB A connector. All in all the JBL Charge 4 is an excellent all around bluetooth speaker with improved sound quality over its predecessor. Pros: Well balanced sound with clear vocals No distortion at maximum volume Battery life IPX7 water proof USB C charging port Cons: No speaker phone

Is there any way to stop that sound it makes when we switch it on? Think in a customer's point of view, you are in the middle of the class and you pass it to your friend then he accidently pressed the power button?? Then boom that loud sound...
Use the JBL app there is an option to have that sound on or off.

Is this an upgrade from the Flip 4? I’ve been thinking about upgrading. Should I get the Charge 4? (If they ever release the Xtreme 2 in Red, Void this question, I buy instantly :)
The Charge 4 is an upgrade from the Charge 3.

Can you hear the sound from the charge 4 to the right because of the single driver ?
Hi Eddis, I'm not sure if I understand your question completely. As it's a single driver speaker, it basically won't play stereo mode on it's own. But, when pairing it with another Charge 4, you can have them play in Stereo Mode, with a left and a right channel. I have a jbl pulse 3. Should I upgrade to the charge 4???
I don't think you should. it all depends what you need the speaker for. The pulse 3 is more of a home speaker which looks better because of the lights. The charge 4 is all about battery and sound quality so it is your choice
