JBL Free is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from JBL does it again I have had these for a little over a week now, and I have to say I try to find a reason to use them every chance I can. Phone calls are crystal clear; both hearing and receiving them. Music playback is hitting it perfectly. I have always loved the sound quality of JBL and this one is no difference. Needless to say I can hear a difference when I'm playing Post Malone to Buddy guy, I can hear every string on that guitar. The assistant Google/Siri works perfectly with smartphones. I have always been a fan of JBL quality in sound. From the Studio Floor Standing Speakers(Studio center speaker as well), JBL Charge, Everest Elite 700(wireless and non-wireless) Headphones, Car audio, and now theses JBL free's. I can tell you that I can hear a difference from Studio speakers sound better then non-studio and so on an so on. You are getting what you paid for. That being said, these are Bluetooth headphones have some common sense when you use them. If they go in-n-out when you are using them, is your phone under a pair of jeans and shirt and sweatshirt??? Come on guys thats your own fault. For bluetooth headphones in this caliber get them! They are worth it! I promise you. Pricing is great not to cheap but not overly expensive. JBL is a brand you can trust. If you happen to have a bad pair, don't get angry life happens JBL will work with you on it. Not every company has 100% working rate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound! I bought 3 pairs of these and we are all very impressed with them. I agree with some reviews that at the first "pairing" the left ear cut-out a few times, but I'm hoping that after the 2nd or 3rd pairing this is no longer an issue. It happened particularly with Pandora and hoping that it was my settings under "Cell Network Audio Quality" which was clicked on. It does say that "Music will sound better, but may skip more often". Hopefully this is the issue. I haven't yet tried with other apps and/or call features. Overall, they are very comfortable and much more sound blocking than any earbuds that I have worn before. The buds cover your whole ear and I think that helps some with blocking outside noise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME! I have owned these for 1-week now and find them AMAZING! Easy connectivity. Very comfortable and much more sound blocking than any earbuds that I have worn. I disagree with some of the reviews that I have read. The first "pairing" the left ear cut-out a few times, but after the 2nd or 3rd pairing this is no longer an issue. I believe what they are referring to is listening to music the way that it was intended to be heard with "great separation" unlike a Dolby surround home theater with 5-8 speakers where you don't hear the full separation. The volume is plenty loud as I mowed my yard with them yesterday and not only did they block the mower noise, but sounded great also! the magnets in the charging dock "click in" to the charging pod to give you 4 - 4 hour charges or 16 hours of non-stop music. I am very impressed with these truly wireless Bluetooth earbuds!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very well built! I got my pair form Best Buy. I was debating between this model and a sony 1000x. I got JBL as the look appealed better to me. Plus I read that the sony's active noise cancellation is not very good(which is probably 1/4 of its price). Before I made my purchase I read all the negative comments. I was not sure what to expect. But the moment I started unpacking, I knew JBL did a great job. One can tell that they did not try to save money making these headphones. They thought through everything. Sound: First of all the sound is very crisp and seems on sync to me. I played several Deadmau5 tracks(as they have a high range of noises) and the sound is superb! Sure it doesn't go super loud but let me tell you couple things. Firstly to those who complain that the sound is not super loud - go any louder and you start damaging your ear drums. Don't believe me? Ask a doctor what the appropriate db is for your ear. Secondly - these headphones have a great seal in your ear and isolate outside noises very well! Now I gave it 4 stars for "best in sound quality" just because one should realise you are not going to get the best sound from a device this small that costs $150. However I am content with it! Durability: They are very well built. Definitely feel expensive and durable. Heck even the charging cable feels good quality too(although a little on the short side, tsk tsk)! Design: These ear buds are just BEAUTIFUL. They remind me of modern day ear rings or something. They look awesome regardless if you are a male or a female. Also when you put them into the charging box - boy do they fit well! There's magnets that pull them into place as soon as you try to place them into the holes. Awesome fit! Remember I said that they paid attention to the details? Close the box and watch. There's several dots at the bottom of the box that indicate the charge of the box. Those light up in white. Then the earbuds being on top also light up in white. It forms a smiley face. AWESOME! I know it's a small thing but I buy a lot of expensive items and I don't see such attention to detail most of the time. Comfort: I actually don't like ear buds all that much because they tend to fall our of my ears. Those fit well. There's 3 different attachments so you have options. More importantly they feel pretty comfortable, they really don't hurt my ears. Cons: -I had a bit of trouble connecting the left to the right headphone the first time. It was just not very clear as I was following their tiny booklet. Eventually they connected(with my wife's help) and the magic started. -Another con would be the fact that once you answer the phone you can only hear through the right ear bud. I saw somebody else complaining from the same thing in the comments. I am not sure if this is on purpose or not. I will have to contact support to confirm. Either way it's not a deal breaker for me but I wanted you to know. Overall: I believe they are worth the price considering this is still a new technology and there's not that many fully wireless headphones on the market.I definitely would buy them again.

I received a pair of these and was excited to try them out. I was unable to get any real volume. Had my phone at full volume at phones were playing, at best, at only a moderate level. Is there a volume control I'm not aware of?

Asked by: MDL17
I had the same issue when I first tried them. I put in the small-sized tips for my ear, and that got rid of the space that made the sound low in my ear. Also the fit was way more snug.

There's no indication of any app associated with these earbuds. You just connect through the blue tooth of your device and that's it.

Are these earbuds seat resistant? Is there a warranty regarding product failure due to sweat? I'm a runner and I need a product that is sweat resistant

Asked by: dsdiva9
The JBL Free is not a sweat proof headphone and are not designed for rigorous workouts. Over exposure to sweat can compromise the controls and ear pads. We recommend looking at our available athletic headphone models at http://www.jbl.com/sport-headphones/

“switching to mono during phone calls” does that mean only one earbud is functioning...if so can you disable this function and use both earbuds?

Asked by: slm3
Mono means that the music from the earbuds are producing the same copy of music while stereo are producing different signals of music on the earbuds(i.e. guitar on the left ear while the voice is on the right). In this case both earbuds are still functioning during calls, It's just on Mono mode which you can hear the voice on the same side.

So the manual states that to avoid case battery issues (assuming to hold its charge) to turn off the case, but it seems as if there is not a power switch on the case. So I'm wondering... what is the routine for charging both headphone and case?

Asked by: jkol
Just take your earbuds out of the case and it will stop releasing power. Its lights will go off as soon as you stop charging it. It's that simple.
