JBL Bar 3.1 is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from sounds fantastic earth shaking bass, realistic surround effects, music is crisp. and most of all my samsung 8 series smart remote operates it thru the hdmi{arc} input, also 4k pass thru from the inputs to the tv (most 4k tv"s only have one true 4k input) had a bose sytem and this sounds better!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic after a week Sound bar sounded tinny at first but once the drivers stretched their legs more of the mid range came forward. The bass is unparalleled to any other sound bar I have heard but if it is too overwhelming it can be turned down. I would recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes, It Does Have Mids. I've had this soundbar for a little while now. I was kind of worried when getting it due to a couple reviews stating that there are no mids and the bass is overpowering, but decided to get it anyway and try it out. Well you can literally turn the bass all the way to 0 on the remote, so you can control exactly how much you want, from none to pretty insane for a soundbar system. So if there's too much bass, then I guess you just never looked at the remote. And while I would say I think the mids are in fact the weakest point of this soundbar, they are far from bad and are still very good. They won't impress like a good dedicated home theater setup, but they are good for a soundbar system. My set points are... Surround Mode: Off (I listen to a lot of music so I just keep this turned off as it sounds much better) Sound Mode: Movie or Sport (Sport is a lot like Movie but it boosts the mids a little for those who think they are lacking) Bass Level: ~20. Depends on what is playing. I only have 3 minor complaints... 1) It would be nice to have an equalizer rather than rely on the presets to adjust the sound. 2) The system cuts out when no sound is detected. It states that it has an auto standby time of 10 minutes, but it cuts out if no sound is detected. So when I plug my USB drive into my TV and search through the songs and movies it constantly switches the sound on and off when scrolling and makes the click sound for only some of my scrolling, slightly annoying. It also cuts off around half of a second off the beginning of my songs when streaming since there's a brief loading time which causes it to cut out and then start back up when the song starts and it misses a little. Not a big issue though as everything plays just fine during the parts where you really want it to. 3) Although I haven't had any issues with pairing, it would be nice if manufacturers would ditch the wireless-only trend and put in the possibility of wiring the subwoofer to the soundbar. I don't understand why pretty much no one does this anymore. Wireless is not without fault and wired is so simple and effective. Overall though, I am very happy with this system and would definitely recommend it.

My product won't connect to the wireless subwoofer, how do I go about syncing them together? There is nothing stated in the guides and manuals

Asked by: willrojazz
Sorry for the inconvenience. Please refer to the steps below, for your information as well, moving forward: 1. Turn on the soundbar and the subwoofer. If the connection is lost, the LED indicator on the subwoofer blinks slowly. 2. Press the CONNECT button on the subwoofer to enter pairing mode. The LED indicator on the subwoofer blinks quickly. 3. Press and hold the DIM DISPLAY button on the remote control for 5 seconds, followed by short press on BASS+, and BASS- button in sequence. Panel display will show “PAIRING”. If pairing succeeds, the LED indicator on the subwoofer lights up, and the soundbar display will show "DONE”. If pairing fails, the indicator on the subwoofer blinks slowly. Lastly, if the pairing fails, repeat the steps above.

I received the sound bar but the subwoofer will not pair to the sound bar. The quick guide sent with it has no info on pairing it. There is a pairing button on the sun but not on the bar, how do I go about connecting the two?

Where is the CONNECT button on the subwoofer to enter pairing mode?

Asked by: tiagovas
The connect button would be at the top of the plug where the power cord is plugged in.

On the back of the subwoofer, in between the "Subwoofer Pairing" button and "AC In" socket, there is something that says "SW Upgrade" and looks similar to a 3.5 mm port. What is that used for? It is not listed in the manual.

Asked by: PandasAreAwesome
That is the SW upgrade port that is used by our authorized service centers for repairs and firmware updates.

Every time I turn on the sound bar, it defaults to the BT input. How do I keep my OPT input active so I don’t have to cycle through the inputs to get my TV audio?

Asked by: Shaney781
The soundbar is powered on whenever a sound signal is received when it's on standby. This is most useful when connecting to the TV using the optical cable, as most HDMI™ ARC connections enable this feature by default. We suggest to turn on your source first for the soundbar to detect the audio signal from the source and then turn on the soundbar.

I see that JBL recently released the BAR 5.1 system. I have the BAR 3.1 and wondering about future software updates to expand the system to be able to run surround speakers and also mitigate the issue of virtually no midrange. All treble and bass!
