JBL Bar 2.1 is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 49.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional sound from a well-designed unit The JBL Bar 2.1 has brought new realism to TV and movie-watching. The tiny, rear-firing speakers on my Samsung TV sounded like a little transistor radio from the 60's. No dynamic range, and when pumped up a higher volumes, often distorted. After hooking up the JBL Bar 2.1, we couldn't believe what we were missing. The sound is rich, clear and the sub-woofer provides excellent base. For me, set-up was simple -- just plug into the HDMI (ARC) port. But JBL has got to do something with the poorly designed and written User's Guide. It's the worst, providing simple graphics of installation options, with no written explanation. I would imagine that someone that isn't a little more advanced in their knowledge of electronic connections would have no idea of what they were doing. I bought another unit as a gift for a friend, and he was totally lost on the installation and thought the guide was very poor. Although once connected, his family loves the sound and the ability to stream music from their smartphones. One other issue that JBL needs to address: Software updates. On the web, they have a download for software updates, with no explanation of what the update contains or even how to update the Bar 2.1. I assume these updates are important to address any issues or improve performance. But how are we to know what they are? Or how to download and install them. Shouldn't we be able to register our units to get an an email list to alert us to updates? Overall, these minor installation and update issues aside, I would highly recommend the Bar 2.1. But...JBL...put some thought into your pitiful user guide and update policy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Friend had JBL wireless speaker. Was so impressed I went a JBL 2.1 sound bar. So pleased I did. For this price point great sound. Remote does lack feel of quality and European power cables only supplied. But hey simple solution, if you can wire a uk plug, and away you go. Have recommended to lots of people.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound quality! Added the sound bar and subwoofer to my flat screen; sounds so much better. The sound quality is superb. JBL is the best. Instructions to add the subwoofer were not included and I had to go to YouTube to see how to add it. Adding the subwoofer was easy; just needs better instructions.

How do you pair the sound bar and sub.

Asked by: Stevebekka
Please follow these steps to pair the subwoofer to the soundbar -First, turn on the soundbar and the subwoofer. If the connection is lost, the LED indicator on the subwoofer blinks slowly.  -Second, press the CONNECT button on the subwoofer to enter pairing mode. The LED indicator on the subwoofer blinks quickly.  -Third, press and hold the DIM DISPLAY button on the remote control for 5 seconds, followed by short press on BASS+, and BASS- button in sequence. Panel display will show “PAIRING”.  -If pairing succeeds, the LED indicator on the subwoofer lights up, and the soundbar display will show "DONE”. If pairing fails, the indicator on the subwoofer blinks slowly.  -Lastly, if the pairing fails, repeat the steps above for 2 more times and submit a case request at https://www.jbl.com/support-contact.html and the Customer Service Team will be more than happy to assist you.

How do I register my soundbar online? Where is the best place to put the sub-woofer?

Asked by: Markbark
No need to register the soundbar online. All you just need to keep is the receipt showing your order infor and we can cover it under warranty if you run into any issues. The best place to put the subwoofer would be close to the soundbar as possible .

"Further enhanced with JBL SoundShift® which allows you to instantly switch between sound from your TV and sound from your mobile phone or tablet." What is meaning of above statement? And how to do "soundshift"

Asked by: Vicky14
Hi! The Soundshift feature for the soundbar is like a shortcut button in switching sources from TV to your mobile device which is connected via Bluetooth.

Hi, the subwoofer has a port with the label "5W Upgrade", what its that for?

Asked by: ramids
The SW Upgrade jack is mainly used for software upgrades that are going to be released in the future for any fixes on the sound bar and not to connect an additional subwoofer.
