10" car audio subwoofers

Product Actions
Strong on performance, big on flexibility.

Car audio systems rely on powerful bass for great sound. System designers look for configuration flexibility. Series II subwoofers deliver both. Designed to suit a range of applications, these 10- and 12-inch subwoofers produce signature JBL bass performance in sealed or vented enclosures. But the flexibility doesn’t end there. Series II subwoofers feature SSI™ (Selectable Smart Impedance), an exclusive impedance switch that lets you select the optimum impedance—2 or 4 ohms—for your system. So you get the powerful JBL bass you want, in the configuration you choose.

how do i calculate the specifications from litres to mm for this sub from the manual

Asked by: raven
I assume you're referring to the Sealed and Vented box volume. If this is the case, for Sealed box volume, it would be 14158423.3 Cubic Millimeters and for Vented box volume, it would be 42475269.9 Cubic Millimeters.

Will 2 of these work with a 2.05 cu.in. vented box tunes to 36hz?

Asked by: Svisathep
This will work but it is not the optimum design for the S2-1024 and it will likely choke out easily, if you are pushing it too hard. The recommended volume for vented-box of S2-1024 is 1.5 cubic foot.

I have a 2015 Camaro convertible, it has a subwoofer located behind the rear seat, free air style. Would this subwoofer work well in that configuration?

Asked by: drbll
No. The S2-1024 subwoofer is not recommended for free-air application and building an enclosure is strongly advised. The S2-1024 is suitable for sealed and vented boxes.

Hi! What volume in Cubic Millimeters that the subwoofer occupies inside the box? I haven't saw this information at the product specifications sheet. Thanks!

Asked by: DioRicardo
The driver displacement of the S2-1024 is 0.1 cubic feet or 2,832,000 cubic millimeters. The designs that we provide on our tech sheets and manual already take the driver displacement into account, so you don't need to.

Would this sub be ok in a box that is 15ltrs in volume (sealed) and with a mounting depth of 144mm?  It lists the depth as 142mm is that going to be too tight a squeeze

Asked by: Banty139u
Hi. This should be fine. Sealed boxes are not very critical, and as you can see, 142mm is from end of magnet to front of chassis, so if you mount the woofer from the outside of the cabinet, you will have space to spare behind it. If you plan a countersunk woofer, you are close to the limit, but it should be fine.
