Highlights

The difference between merely watching a movie at home and being fully immersed in a cinema experience is JBL® sound. The JBL Cinema SB400 includes a two-channel soundbar for high-definition audio that complements your high-def video. It features four 2-1/4-inch (57-millimeter) cone woofers, two 1-inch (25-millimeter) dome tweeters, an amplifier that offers up to 120 watts of power, three HDMI® inputs (for multiple sources such as your cable box, DVD player, videogame console and computer), integrated Bluetooth® technology (ideal for streaming music from digital devices), dual-position equalization (which optimizes sound based on the soundbar’s location) and HARMAN Display Surround technology (which creates a surround-sound experience from only two channels). And for people who want more rumble and realism, the SB400 includes a separate, 200-watt, 8-inch (400-millimeter) wireless subwoofer with bass-boost functionality, which lets you tailor low-frequency response. Designed to complement flat-panel TVs that are 46 inches (1.168 meters) and larger, the glossy Cinema SB400 is ready to work with any type of A/V format and deliver the great JBL sound that you’ve come to love – and look great doing so.

The Cinema SB400 incorporates amplifiers, controls and left and right woofers and tweeters into a single soundbar. Its built-in amplification simplifies system connections and operation, and offers up to 120 watts of power.

Nothing draws you into the action like huge bass. The Cinema SG400’s 8-inch (200-millimeter), low-frequency transducer and built-in 200-watt amplifier deliver all of your entertainment’s impact, emotion and excitement. And because the system is wireless, it puts no unsightly cables between soundbar and subwoofer.

Movies and TV shows aren’t the only things that sound better with a JBL soundbar. The Cinema SB400 wirelessly streams music from smartphones and tablets, delivering room-filling, full-range sound reproduction with exceptional bass.

With three HDMI inputs, the Cinema SB400 provides convenient connection for multiple HDMI source components. It also includes one HDMI output with Audio Return Channel (ARC), which sends the TV sound back to the soundbar. This setup simplifies switching and makes the system easier to use.

Drawing from HARMAN expertise in movie theater audio, the Cinema SB400 lets you add cinema sound without adding multiple speakers. Employing proprietary HARMAN Display Surround technology, it creates a virtual surround-sound experience while preserving the original audio mix in its timbre and special balance.

The Cinema SB400 decodes film soundtracks in their native format, which eliminates conversion stages that reduce sound quality. This arrangement helps the soundbar provide a superb surround-sound experience for multiple listeners.

The Cinema SB400 easily connects to any TV and even provides all of the cables that you’ll need. Easy to install, the soundbar requires virtually no setup. Just connect and play.

The Cinema SB400 features enough inputs to connect a TV and a disc player, satellite tuner or cable tuner to the system. It connects directly to any television and increases convenience – no plugging and unplugging required.

The Cinema SB400 comes with a credit card-sized remote control that can “learn” the IR (infrared) volume-control code of your existing TV remote control. You can literally control the soundbar and TV volume with the same remote.

You can place the Cinema SB400 on a shelf or tabletop, or wall-mount it with the included hardware. A dual-position equalization feature optimizes the soundbar’s performance for any location. So you can position it where you choose without compromising sound quality.

Cinema SB400 is rated 2.9649 out of 5 by 57.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Technologically experienced and audiophile I've had this for about 6 months now and absolutely love it. Run this with HDMI out of my computer to a samsung 4k and it sounds incredible. Hits lows much better than I was expecting and the bass boost does not distort like others do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING!!!!! I've now had this sound bar for 6 months and I love it. Super easy set up and the sound quality is amazing. I have the ability to feel like I'm in a movie theater when I turn subwoofer on or just Bluetooth and listen to music while I clean. It really is a great system I've had no issues with anything.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it so far I bought it about 3-4 months ago and think it sounds great. I like how I can only use my phone to turn it in with Bluetooth and it starts playing music after a few seconds. The mounting on the back will work, but is a little flimsy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No problems with setup and sounds great! I've had it setup for a week or so and live it so far. No problems with setup and I think it sounds great. Would definitely recommend it. The wall mount is a little flimsy though.

Sound is amazing and subwoofer is a awesome compliment to the sound bar. it is a little pricey, but if your planning on spending at least $250 you might as well double it and get this because quality is night and day different.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bang for the buck Was thinking to buy Bose Cinimate sound bar. Then I came across JBL SB400 and bought one. Excellent sound for our living room. We listen more 2.1 music then actual movie surround sound, it is just great for that, the sound fills our living room comfortably, we stream music through bluetooth.

Experiencing lag on my audio.  Any advise from anyone that is experiencing the same problem?

Asked by: Cryptocounselor
While it is wonderful to have HDMI connections on a soundbar, sometimes this can create issues like a a lag or audio/video sync problems, determined by how long it takes your TV to process the video signal. Here's what happens. You send the audio and video signal to the SB400 via HDMI. The SB400 sends the video out to the TV. But the SB400 is able to process the audio signal a lot faster than the TV is able to process the video, or vice-versa. A very easy way to fix this is to connect your sources directly to your TV, and then run the audio from the TV to the SB400 via ARC or optical digital. This should prevent the lag issue from happening.

My subwoofer keeps cutting in and out. The blue light also goes off when it cuts out. I've had it for 2 weeks and it just started doing this. I've reset and repaired it and it still does it. Please help.

How do I erase my remote from the sound bar?  I have a universal remote. This sound bar does not pair correctly with it. Every button, and I mean EVERY button I push on my tv remote makes the volume go up. It's very annoying. How do I unpair it?

Asked by: Smb63
In standby mode - Press "Volume-" (minus) button and "Surround mode" button simultaneously for approx 3 seconds - soundbar turns on - soundbar is reset. It is important not to press too hard on the Volume- button, because that will also press down the Volume+ end of the button, and the reset will not work then. If you press too hard, two clicks should be felt or heard, indicating that this is wrong.

Hello, Recently purchased JBL SB 400. For most it works good except for Onscreen display doesnt fit TV screen(32In). Also same issue when I connect my laptop over hdmi. Screen size doesnt fit and omits corners by a large margin. How can I set resolution

Asked by: VK_UK
It sounds like you might have your TV set to zoom or stretch, pushing the OSD outside the margin of the screen. Please check your display settings.

Soundbar keeps turning on in the middle of the night without the tv on and it's incredibly loud.I get up and turn the volume down then in the morning I can't get the sound to work. Happens often. pushing buttons gets it back on but not today. Help!

Asked by: Jessicalynn
You mention that it turns on and is very loud. I would assume it is playing music. If this is the case, it sounds like maybe someone near you (a neighbor) has hijacked your Bluetooth wireless connection, and is toying with you late at night. I would recommend that you reset the SB400, removing all Bluetooth devices from it, and then pair your own device (smartphone) to it, so that other devices can't be paired to it. This will stop this from happening in the future. To RESET: In standby mode - Press "Volume-" (minus) button and "Surround mode" button simultaneously for approx 3 seconds - soundbar turns on - soundbar is reset. It is important not to press too hard on the Volume- button, because that will also press down the Volume+ end of the button, and the reset will not work. If you press too hard, two clicks should be felt or heard, indicating you have pressed to hard.
