ES20 is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound in a small package. After purchasing the ES150, we realized that we needed high-performing bookshelf speakers to match. Luckily, we stumbled across these at a steal ($130), and decided to get them. This was the greatest choice we could have made for our home theater! They present unmatched sound performance with crisp, clear highs, and the 60Hz bass response allows these to stand on their own without depending completely on a subwoofer. They blend perfectly with our ES150. A superb product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Direct from Manufacture and UNREAL price..!!!!! After being a JBL fan for many years, I bought my first set of Studio Series speakers (S-310) in 2001. Since then, this has been as close to an addiction as I would like to admit. I was in market for some new speakers to go with my updated 7.2 Denon receiver. I searched everywhere I could think of online, looking to pick up some smaller speakers for rear channels. Just on a whim, and first time ever being on JBL.com, I saw the deal that I could not pass up. I just received these speakers two days ago direct from Cali, and can not get over the high end quality at such a Craigslist price. You will be so impressed by the performance that you will want to invite over the neighbor that never returns your tools to hear them . If you are in the market for a new set of book shelf speakers, these are amazing enough to be your offensive tackle, wide receiver or your half back. I recommend purchasing these direct from JBL, best value for your hard earned dollar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound in small package Been shopping for a quality pair of small speakers to use with an AMP and my iPod and tablet to play music. I have a small living room and didn't want or need anything overpowering along with a compact size. These speakers fit the bill. Sound quality is great (of course there are some drawbacks for being bookshelf speakers) but overall I am very satisfied with them. Once I get a pair of speaker stands, the sound quality should improve.

I want to order a pair of JBL speakers but i'm having a difficult time choosing between the ES20 and the ES10, which of the two do you suggest? I'm looking for the one with the most clarity with a good mix of bass. Can you help me out?

Asked by: Noah
The ES10 speakers are great, but they are designed mainly to be used at surround speakers, to be hung on a wall. The ES20 speakers are definitely better sounding speakers, especially when used as main speakers. They will put out more bass, and give a more balanced response.

What.subwoofer is recommended to match with these speakers?

Asked by: Freestyla
Hi. Depending on the room size, one of the current models JBL Studio 250P or 260P will be fine matches. Of course the 260 with its 12" / 30cm woofer will be able to move more air than the 10" of the 250, but in a normal size room with normal volume, the 250 will do a fine job.

What amp and sub do you guys recommend to go with these? Also, do they require a receiver to function?

Asked by: acratman
These speakers have a maximum recommended amplifier rating of 125 watts per channel. So basically, as long as you get a receiver with a wattage rating of 125 watts per channel or less, it will work fine with these speakers. These speakers are passive, so yes, they do need amplification, either a separate component amplifier or a receiver. While virtually any receiver will work, I can tell you that we test our speakers using the amplification from our sister company, Harman Kardon. So I would recommend an HK3770 (120 watts per channel) as a great match. As for the sub, as long as your sub can double the power output of the receiver, it will be powerful enough to keep up with the system. So any one of our current subwoofers will work very nicely with these speakers.
