Can I use these speakers with a JBL subwoofer?

Asked by: johnny2017
The JBL SP8CII are passive architectural speakers that require power from an amplifier/receiver. You can use JBL subwoofer by plugging into the sub-output on the amplifier/receiver that is connected to the SP8CII speakers.

I see there is a max amplified power. Is there a minimum recommended amplified power or RMS? If so, what is it?

Asked by: ITguy0492
The SP8CII can handle between 10-100 watts. Although the recommended max amp power is 100 watts, going about 10-20 watts above this level will be fine as long as you do not crack in.

I would need four of these speakers for a classroom. If they are wired in parallel, what wattage amplifier would I need to make sure that it's loud enough? They would be playing both movies and music.

Asked by: ITguy0492
SP8CII can handle up to 100 watts at 8 ohms. If you are considering to wire four of these in parallel (two speakers in one terminal), the impedance will drop down to 4 ohm. You need a receiver/amplifier that can accommodate 4 ohm speakers in order to use the SP8CII adequately.

So I keep seeing lanai as an approved area but not a patio or porch... a lanai is just big porch, correct? flat out, will these things stand up to temperature changes and humidity of being in a covered outdoor environment? Thanks!

Asked by: Bdawson44
Lanais are usually designed differently; as long as the ceiling can accommodate the SP8CII’s mounting dimension, it should be fine. The SP8CII’s mounting depth is 4-1/4" (108mm) and its diameter is 9-1/2" (240mm). These are indoor speakers which are designed to withstand heat/cold from -40 degrees Celsius up to 60 degrees Celsius. If the listening areas is enclosed from the outdoor environment, the SP8CII will function as intended.

Are these speakers available for educational facilities?

Asked by: ITguy0492
The JBL SP8C!! are passive architectural speakers that require power from an amplifer/receiver. As long as you can provide roughly 100 watts of power at 8 ohms to each speaker, they will work great. Please note; you may or may not need more than a pair of SP8CII speakers depending on the listening area size and audio volume level.
