You get 400 watts of peak power handling and hyper-realistic, deep bass – no unwanted distortion – from proprietary JBL dual 6-inch PolyPlas™ low-frequency transducers. A 4-inch midrange transducer is the heart and soul of great sound. UHF drivers are capable of 40kHz and produce high-end nuances – and EOS waveguides make any seat the best in the house.

What's in the box?

  • (1) ES80 Four-way, dual 6" floorstanding loudspeaker
  • (4) Self-adhesive rubber feet.
  • (1) Owner's Manual

Stiff, lightweight PolyPlas™ reproduces vocals with incredible accuracy and gives great bass response. A seamless surround field is created. Distortion is minimized even at high volumes with a rubber surround for the driver. Together, they give you an unmatched audio experience.

A great midrange driver is the heart and soul of great sound – and where departures from faithful sound reproduction are most noticeable to the human ear. The JBL® ES80 midrange driver also uses PolyPlas™ technology. What you hear is true.

Proprietary EOS Waveguide technology realizes the sonic response of your listening environment and delivers more precise imaging. You get ideally balanced music. Crisp dialogue. Smooth audio distribution. Every seat is the best seat in your home theater.

The extremely thin but rigid titanium-laminate dome delivers accurate, undistorted high- frequency response, even when the volume is way up. The end result is a full, clear, tight reproduction of high frequencies.

Four-way speaker design and quality cones make for tighter, more precise bass and midrange reproduction. The JBL® ES80 offers a full range of frequencies and lifelike imaging.

The ideal path from input to components to transducers is a straight line. The JBL® ES80 takes the shortest path possible. SSP technology preserves the clarity, detail and dynamics of the original audio content.

The JBL® computer-optimized bass reflex port extends deep bass response and eliminates unwanted turbulence.

This small but muscular speaker offers 100 watts RMS and 400 watts of peak power, 3,600Hz crossover frequency at 24dB/octave, and 90dB sensitivity. Have fun.

Nothing is over- or under-emphasized. With a frequency response of 45Hz ? 40kHz, the JBL® ES80 reproduces a true, full sound range ? from deep bass tones to ultra-high frequencies.

The internal dividing network enables bi-wiring capabilities that offer you more flexibility in amplifier selection ? and serious sonic advantages in the audio response.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Clarity and Rich Mid's I ordered these for my brother this year. As we sit and listen to our favorite tunes for almost a year now, these speakers never disappoint. As a matter of fact even his wife could hear the difference between my older model northridge II series and these. If you are looking for movie watching, music lover, or even audiophile quality, you should consider these at the top of your list. I am an acoustical engineer and I love these. It's not everyday you can sit down and enjoy speakers without wanting to re-engineer how they were built.

Would the ES80's work well strictly as an audiophile system. I don't plan on using these in a home theatre situation. Thanks

Asked by: pdub
The ES80 speakers are wonderful sounding speakers, especially for the price. But for the most common high quality system situations, these speakers will do great.

I am looking to build a 5.1 home theatre with 2 es80 speakers. which speaker would match best with these for a center speaker? Also for the rear bookshelf speakers? Thanks

Asked by: Mark0101
The ES80 speakers can handle up to 200 watts per channel. This means that any receiver with a power output of 200 watts per channel or less will work fine with these speakers. If you're looking for a home theater system to match your existing receiver, here are the general rules to picking out speakers for your system. 1. Make sure the receiver can handle the impedance/ohms of the speakers. Typical impedance and 8 ohms is almost never a problem. 2. Make sure that the speakers you choose can handle the power rating of your receiver. If you have a 100 watt per channel receiver, be sure the speakers you choose have a wattage rating of 100 watts or higher. 3. Stick with the same series of speaker, so that all of the speakers have the same sonic tonal quality, giving you a seamless transition when sound travels from one speaker to another. For example, if you select the ARENA 180 floor standing speakers for your front speakers, be sure to select the ARENA series center and bookshelf speakers for your rears.

I have 2 es250p 4 es80 no center speaker cuz not in stock currently. what amplifier jbl or harman/kordon offers for this set up I'm using 4 es80 forfront and backs should I go with 2 receiver one for lows and one for highs thanks in advance

Asked by: ebooo
The ES80 speakers can handle up to 200 watts per channel. This means that any receiver with a power output of 200 watts per channel or less will work fine with these speakers. If you're looking for a 5.2 home theater system, a single AVR will do. Both receivers from our sister company, Harman Kardon, the AVR 1710S and AVR3700, will do a fine job driving these speakers based on your set up. It really comes down to your listening preference. For example, if your listening taste only requires 30 watts per channel of power in order to be loud enough for you, there would be no reason to get a 200 watt per channel amplifier, as you will never use all of that power. The most important thing is to get a receiver that puts out enough volume for you, without exceeding the 200 watt limit of the speakers.

does this only come with one or two speakers?

Asked by: mavrickdew
All of our floor standing speakers are sold as each, not in pairs. You would need to purchase 2 in order to end up with a pair.

Will the ES80 floor standing speakers work well with the studio 225c center channel speaker?

Asked by: Shannon
While the ES80 will work nicely with your STUDIO 225C, it will not be a perfect sonic match. If you are looking for the best sonic match, the STUDIO 280 or STUDIO 290 speakers will be the best match.

Can this speaker be connected to my flatscreen TV. I currently have a sound bar connected to the TV?

Asked by: Reno
The ES80 is purely a passive speaker that must be connected to an amplified audio receiver in order to perform. It cannot be connected directly to a TV.

Sir i have es80 i ordered it last dec. es80 have 4 connection at back. How can i stall this. Thanks

Asked by: Tony57
You'll notice a metal strap connecting the two negative terminals together, and one connecting the two positive terminals together. When those straps are there, it is a regular speaker with only two terminal, one positive and one negative. You can connect them like you would any other speaker. Now, if you remove the two metal straps, you have just separated the woofer from the rest of the speaker. You can now biamp your speaker if you'd like. If you have two amplifiers, and you want to use one amp for the bass and the other amp for the mids and highs, you can do it by removing these straps. Once removed, the bottom terminals go directly to the bass speakers while the top terminals go directly to the mids and highs. NOTE: This is VERY important. NEVER connect two amplifiers to these terminals when the straps are in place. If you do this, you will blow both amplifiers instantly, and possibly the speakers as well.
