  JBL GTO-S959 speakers handle up to 440 watts peak power (110 watts RMS continuous average). This much power makes for an ideal match to systems powered with head-unit or factory-installed amplifier power levels, or even with many of the GTO Series amplifier combinations, to help keep up with systems that feature one or more subwoofers. Great power-handling specifications like the GTO-S959’s increase reliability over the lifetime of the speaker.

  The GTO-S959’s Plus One carbon-injected cones provide more overall speaker-cone area than other speakers in its class. With an effective increase in cone area, the speakers radiate more air. In addition, the carbon-injected cone material results in a lighter and stiffer cone. The result is better low-frequency response and less effort to produce those important tactile notes in music that people often associate with larger speaker sizes.

  Three-ohm voice coils in GTO-S959 speakers can compensate for any added resistance in thin, factory-installed speaker wiring. They can also provide more output than factory speakers or other products in the GTO-S959’s class.

  Edge-driven, soft-dome PEI main and super tweeter diaphragms

  The main 3/4-inch (19-millimetre), edge-driven polyetherimide (PEI) soft-dome tweeter in the GTO-S959 speaker increases overall power handling while it reduces high-frequency distortion. The speakers also include 1/2-inch (12-millimetre) PEI super tweeters for ultrasmooth high-frequency reproduction, since the placement of speakers this size is often in the car’s lower doors or rear shelf, far from the listeners’ ears. To compensate for the distance, this edge-driven tweeter design provides the listener with improved vocals and clarity at both low and high volumes with the help of the PEI soft-dome material, which combines high temperature resistance with rigidity across the high-frequency range. There’s no sense in playing your music loud if it doesn’t sound clear too.

  GTO-S959 speakers include speaker wire that’s pre-terminated to connect onto the speaker terminals. Just run the wire to your head unit or amplifier’s speaker-output connections, and you’ll be ready to go. Since the wire and mounting hardware are included with the GTO-S959, there’s nothing additional to buy.

  JBL engineers specifically evaluate each GTO Series speaker model in the development stages for overall and vocal-range voicing, intermodulation distortion (IMD) and performance at the limits of electrical and mechanical design.
